Bariatric Buddy
HELLP!!!!
I had my RNY about the same time as you. And to tell the truth, I can and do get by with eating things that are not the best for me. My weight loss has stalled too. I keep bouncing in the same area, up 2-5 pounds, then down those 2-5 pounds for the last few months. I wish there were a magic wand that could help both of us. It does not exist. My surgeon's office keeps reminding me to journal my foods. I did the journalling religeously in the beginning, then drifted away from the journaling. Still finding it hard to make the time to sit down with the paper and pencil, or computer to journal.
Time for us both to go back to the beginning basics. Write down every morsel that we place in our mouths, keep track of protein, water and activity. Can we do this, yes indeedy. Will we do this, that is up to each of us. Doing what we need for utmost health should be number one in our lives, it amazing how we let ourselves slide out from the most important position as our lives become busy again.
I challenge you to start journalling your foods, paper and pen, computer sites, doesn't matter where or how, let's just do it. My nutritionist even recommended having a pos*****pe note that sits on the kitchen counter. If you sample something while cooking, put down a mark for each bite of sampling. Use the number 25 calories per bite and add this to your daily total for the day. Amazing how many tastes you can and do take while preparing a meal.
Today is the start of the rest of our lives, let's do this together. Hugs

I am right there with you. I have lost the strength and focus I had a year ago.
Kathy, I'm with you on the journaling. Its strange how I can always seem to make time for everyone else's needs but always use the "I just don't have the time" excuse when it comes to my needs. I am using journaling as my goal this month. Of all the habits that I need to tweak, I think the most important one is going to be putting my some of my needs before others peoples wants.
I heard a catchy phrase on a commercial the other day. The TV was on in the other room, so I don't even remember what it was for, but it was odd how I caught this little slogan. "One good decision can lead to another". I have to get out of the all or nothing mindset. One good decision can lead to another good decision, but I shouldn't let one bad decision lead to even more bad decisions. It needs to be that...one bad decision....it happened, but it doesn't have to happen again. And when I make a good decision, I need to acknowledge that, feel good about it, and let that feeling carry over so I am in the right mindset when it's time to make another food decision.
Thanks to everyone here for your great support.
