Hello everyone.....I am excited to be apart of a group that I can learn from.  I have read a lot of posts that I can relate to and it is helping me as I am a newbie.  I just had surgery 07/15/10.  Things seem to be going very slow as far as weight loss.  I don't know what I expect .....it just seems like with the drastic change in my eating habits and exercise I would have lost more than 10lbs by now.  I am trying not to be so obsessive about it but it is hard.  I can tell that I have lost inches but the scale seems to go up and down.  Any suggestions??

Hello COngrats. I know with the scale goin up n down maybe its from working out? Are you building muscle maybe? or? I lost pretty quick at first but know some who just havn't I always tried not to over weigh myself in the beginning to. Just stick to the dieting and exc. and you will do great!!!

Welcome to the group CW,

Getting to our sizes did not happen overnight and the loss will take time too.  You are getting used to your new band and have not had your first fill yet.  Give your body time to heal from the surgery.  Practice good eating habits, eat slowly, put the utensil down between bites, chew well and get in your fliuds, supplements and exercise and the results will happen.

Come to monday eve chat sessions when you can to share with and support everyone that attends.  I send out a reminder with a shortcut to the chat site on mondays.  I look forward to getting to know you better.

Congrats on getting to the losing side of surgery and wow, the inches do matter.  Hugs

Welcome to the group. I too am a newbie, had surgery July 1, starting weight 275 lbs. The day I came home after surgery, I weighed 2 1/2 lbs more than I did the morning of it. But I started losing slowly then quickly hit a plateau for a few days but now after one month I've lost a total of 24 lbs. So don't be discouraged, concentrate on learning to follow the plan the doctor has giving you and you will see it come off. Monday nights they meet at a chat room. You can ask lots of questions and get a lot of good advice from others experiences, hope you can make it..

It's important too, to remember that banders lose a bit slower than other procedures do. Be sure to get in the fluids and your protein and activity, and you will do great! You may or may not have fluid in your band yet. Often there is just the band uninflated for 2 to 6 weeks depending on the surgeon. As you get fills your loss will increase, but please do not measure your loss against that of us RNY'er's or other procedures, as the band is just natuarally a bit slower. BUT you do lose longer!!!

You are doing great! Don't be discouraged!
