Home and recovering...

Well, I got out of the hospital several hours earlier than the docotr had anticipated letting me go. I was able to pass gas (which I had to do before being allowed to eat solids) and so was abe to eat the evening of my surgery day. My surgeon had thought it wouldn't be until lunch time the next day. I held my food down fine, which also suprised him, as I had a terrible bout with nausea and vomitting after the surgery for several hours. But by late afternoon, I had that licked. He was going to leave the catheter in until the next morning, but I reuested he let them remove it, and allow me to try on my own. He agreed, but said most likely I would not be able to urinate and would have to have it put back in.  Luckily, everything flowed well, and it was able to remain out of me. I was up and walking right after the nausea and vomitting passed, and walked 3 o 4 times that first day. Was then told that night, to just rest.. They were worried that I was being too active..lol.

The doc came in the mornbing after surgery, and told me I have done much better than he expected, and progressed with everything much faster than usual, so I was allowed to leave then if i would like, instead of waiting until afternoon. I was pleased with this and ready to go home to my own bed.

I ended up with 4 laproscopic incisions. They removed my uterus and left ovary and tube vaginally, laproscopically assisted. They also found a cyst on my right ovary, and drained it during surgery, but left the ovary. I felt pretty good Thursday still. Today tho (friday) my pain and tenderness was up a bit. Slept ALOT and just layed around. Lots of intestinal activity earlier in the day. The gas pains were enough to kill a person. My belly is looking like I am about 3 or 4 months along...lol. I gained 15 lbs overnigh****er weight...ughhhh. My hands and feet and ankles and lower legs are swollen up pretty badly. All in all tho, I am doing well. Very little pain meds being used, as i don't want to fight the side effect of constipation they cause. Use them only when I reallyyyyy need them.

To my surprise, I am able to lay on my sides... I wasn't able to do this after my Lap RNY, so figured I wouldn't be able to do it after this... thankfully I can, but only for short periods of time. I'll take it! Can't stand being flat on my back for too long at a time, and I am not a back sleeper. Problem is I will fall asleep on my side, and wake up hurting pretty good. So far I am down 3 lbs from the 15 I put on after surgery. Still looking pregnant tho..lol.

Hope you all have a great day today. Will check back in when I am feeling up to it. Time to go back to bed now.. Thanks for all the well wishes, prayers and thoughts!
Hugs!

God Bless you Patrice and I am so happy that this has gone well for you.  I am out of the hospital a week now and each day is a little bit better.  Still terribly weak and need to use a walker.  Lots of oedema legs, feet etc but each day it gets better.  Major porblems with potassium and that is due to the lasik.   All in all I am glad to be alive and maybe someday I will be glad I had the RNY.
I hope the rest of your journey is uneventful and I will pray for you.
