16 days post-op Lap Band
Well............. I have been looking over my food journal.
Day 5 post-op I was 253 ( I started at 272) and eating jello food and protein shakes, and clear soup and liquids.
Averaging between 400-600 calories and 50-60 proteins.
Loosing about a half a pound a day.
I was tired but encouraged. Would walk a block or two, and then increase it by a block every other day.
Now, I'm 16 days post op, 244, eating soft foods.
Averaging about 800-900 calories a day and hitting my 75 protein mark.
Loosing about 1 pound every 4-5 days.... I'm getting a little discouraged.
I'm walking about a half a mile a day and swimming too.
Taking my vitamins, calcium, and iron every day. Taking my thyroid meds also every day.
I've gone over everything my dietician gave me, and every piece of information I've received from support groups and meetings.
Plus there are times that I've eating my half cup of protien mashed potatoes or my cup of protein soup and I'm still hungry.
What am I missing? I feel like I'm doing something wrong.

Sounds like you are doing great all in all. You are down almost 30 lbs! thats an awesome amount for 16 days! Seems like maybe you are getting in more calories than I could as early out as you are. But we are all given a bit different instructions...Watch the carbs like the potato stuff. They can make you get hungry sooner, and don't stick with you long as far as fullness. Also not a lot of nutrition in them really. better off with fat free refried beans for a carb source, should you need them.
Also are you getting in at least 64 oz of liquids? Very important.. you may just be in a slower phase of weight loss. At 11 days out I hit a stall completely, and the scale didn't move for almost 2 weeks.. So never fear.. Stick to your plan your were given and it is going to start to come off quicker again. This is very common and not permanent.

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Your weight loss is fantastic for 16 days out! Congratulations on that!
You've already gotten some great advice. What about walking more than half a mile per day? Can you bump it up to 3/4 a mile for a few days & then bump it up to a mile? I think bumping up the walking (If you can walk easily, like no injuries, etc...) that will burn it the fastest. Walking saves me (It saved me last week and I got a nice weight loss!) I have my next nutrition consult in a month and I want to really take advantage of the walking to help suppliment my weight loss.
Good luck!
