how do u could calories when u make something homemade? just 1 serving of everything and add it up together? sometimes its not even a full serving or something u put in. i need to figure out my calories because i dont know if i am eating too much or too little. going to go blog and listen to praise and worship music. im tense tonight and refusing to call on food. and we're basically out of snacks. i need to start budgeting meals better.

Sara, during my meetings with the nutritionist before surgery, we focus on counting protein grams. I do not count carbs or calories at this time, just protein. do your best to estimate the calories. There are sites out there where you can plug in the ingredients you are preparing to get calorie totals. I have not checked the sites out.

After surgery, you will not have room for much other than your proteins at first. For the time being, balance food groups and do your best to follow healthy eating plans. Love your questions, you make me think. Hugs

thanks. my nut was saying i wasnt getting enough calories in at 1200. i was only guessing but when i use the tracker on OH thats what it says i had. but now that im making homemade stuff im not eating too much and have no idea what the calories are except 100 calories for chicken, etc. i quit journaling and i need to go back to it but ive been doing okay without it but was bad on ryans birthday. unfortunately i confess i had cake more than once. i gained 3 lbs but lost 4 since then. i feel like its too much to hope for that i loose the weight all on my own. 4 lbs a week seems like a lot but i dunno how long it'll keep up. i have tests tonight at school so i have to finish getting ready. i will catch up soon. lots of changes going on. anyone want my book blog let me know. its personal so i prefer to it be someone i talk to on here already but i am open to new people.

Sara, you are doing well for getting ready for surgery.  Yes, journal your food, fluid and activity, you will look back on those pages and realize that you are getting somewhere.  Weight will fluctuate day to day.  Resist the temptation to weigh daily if you can.

How is school going, test time can be stressful.  Have a grand weekend.  Send pages from your book, I will read when I get a moment here and there.  Hugs

I am just waking up but wanted to reply. my weight is holding steady at 25 lbs lost. i learn that if i eat more or go out to eat (and pick something healthy) that if i think i had too many calories to have a shake for the opposite meal. i lost 4 lbs this week. :) i want to find an aerobics dvd but i am so not flexible and dont have a lot of space where i exercise. i do the 2 and 3 mile walk away the pounds. i love exercising now but sometimes i take a day off. i want to get the weight loss coach for ds. its basically whats on this website though so im not sure, except it comes with a pedometer. thank you for the support  :) i am trying to make as many changes as i can, but hubby is looking for a new job so i constatnyl worry about loosing our insurance through the goverment. he might have one as a dish washer which would be awesome. if he got 40 hours a week, we'd be pushing it with the insurance but we'll figure it out. i just dont want anything to interfere with surgery. ya know? maybe he can talk to them about 35 hours a week if they want fulltime. lol. i just hope he gets the job because hes only getting a little more than 8-10 hours a week at his current job. enough job rant, i will pm you the website my book is on. im working on the chapter about my senior year when i lost my mother and details. when i post it skip what u want. its a healing process for me and a journal so to speak for gabby. i need to start tracking my food so i can see my progress. instead ive been using my head and doing it day by day in there. lol.

You are starting to see the healthy trends Sara, good for you.  Yes, eating out provides wayyyyyy to many calories.  And it is expensive too.  Hoping that your hubby finds work.  Having a job is satisfying, providing for the family.  Hugs

yes i agree on that. he works 2 days a week right now but is looking for more hours. thanks :) i used to love to eat out now i almost hate it. lol. but once in a while i let the family do it or request it and i eat something healthy. im down 1 more lb this week. ive noticed the weight loss is slowing down. which is dissappointing but something we both expected would happen sooner or later.
i just had high hopes to loose the 150 on my own but i guess i need to be realistic and just hope to get to 299 :)
today is a busy day. im always busy now. and we have gabby on a schedule which makes me feel busy all the time now. i need to shower and get ready for our home counseling apt and i have class tonight. 1 test. oh i didnt mention i've had 3 tests and have 3 as! yay me.
