PCP - Dr appt today...Anti-depressants
Hey everyone...
I had my check up with my PCP today...she was amazed at my weight loss. She said she almost didn't recoginize me (that's a good feeling I guess). Anyways, got the referral for my 1 year post-op check up with surgeon next month. I also walked out of there with 5 prescriptions. Ugghh...flonase-normal I wanted that one...but my Vitamin D is still low so I now have prescription for that, they put me on anti-depressant Effexor (due to my mood swings, anxiety attacks). I had been off of that for 3 years and had hoped to not take it again. They also gave me Xanax for my panick attacks that have flared up after 6 years of being dormant. The big one to swallow---Birth Control. I had not had any in almost 13 years...but now I have to be on it as a precautionary measure just in case I decide to...well you know. Overall, a good visit just didn't expect birth control and anti-depressants. She said birth control is pretty standard for post-op's.
Does anyone know if they will cause a lot of weight gain???? I'm still 8 lbs from goal. I want to get the weight off as much as possible and I hate to gain from these meds. My appetite lately has been very strong and I am so afraid of gaining weight back.
Hugs to you all out there,
Susan

Hi Susan, been on effexor myself for several years now and would not be without it. Fixing a chemical imbalance can and does make all the difference in life. Watch your intake, keep working your tool and you will lose those last 8 pounds.
The rest sounds pretty normal, unless you are planning on having a child in the near future. Great to hear from you. Hugs

Hey lady! Good to hear from you!
If you have been feeling a lot of hunger lately, you may want to assess your carb intake. those little buggers can definately trigger cravings and hunger.
Not sure on the weight gain with birth control.. sorry I can't help there.
If it does, it shouldn't be much.
My daughter who thought she'd never conceive just had her baby 2 1/2 weeks ago. The weight loss with RNY seemed to spur o some fertility for her..lol.

Patrece,
Thanks for the tip about that carbs...I have been eating more of those than I should be. I will be cutting back for the next 3 weeks.
Yep, my Dr said that with RNY it can cause you to become fertile...so I now get the B.C.
I saw the pictures of your new grandbaby and what a cutie!
hugs to you,
Susan

Thank you! I sure love him to pieces!
carbs are so hard to deal with. We like them, but they really don't like us! Good luck scaling them back. You may even find your mood improves and your energy picks up if yu cut them back enough
