5 days post op.  It's nice saying post-op instead of pre-op.

I went in for my Lap-Band surgery on Friday.
There was a complication during surgery, so I was in ICU on Friday night and moved to a regular room on Saturday night. I was released on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday and Monday were pretty rough. I lot of pain on my incision sites. I still depend on my ice pack. I also do have to admit that I do not handle pain well.

Every day is getting better.
I'm moving more, breathing better. I am taking a walk about twice a day and a little further ever time I go out.
I have a support group meeting on Saturday and I am glad.

I have a lot of rumbling in my intestines, which comes out as gas.  Am I not eating enough clear liquids?
I also have this feeling like I have to burp, but cannot.

I have been taking all of my meds and viatmins, and today I am going to focus on getting my protein back up there. I have been adding dry milk to my soup, and average about 50 grams of protein. I should be around 65-70. All in time, it's not so tough getting used to it.

Next Friday I get to move to soft foods.

First of all CONGRATS on your arrival to the losers bench! So sorry to hear you had to be in icu, but happy that all is well now!
The gas, rumbling and feelings of needing to burp are normal. They pumped you full of air to do your surgery, and it takes a while for all of that to get passed out of your system. The walks help alot with this.
be sure you are drinking your 64 or more oz of liquids daily. You are doing well on the protein, especially for just starting out.. now just work toward nudging it up as you can.

Again CONGRATS!!!

Congrats on getting to this point Jeanine, you are doing amazing at this time.  Gradually increase the activity and keep sipping.  Let this new tool and your incisions heal and then jump back into this ride of your life.  Hugs
