My 2 year surgiversary will be on July 21st. Yesterday i had my 2 year follow up appt with my surgeon and it went very well.
He is extremely happy with my weight loss, and told me to STOP losing. I told him I'd love to lose another 10 or so, but he says NO. lol. He said he may not have even recognized me if my hubby had not been with me. He asked about my exercise, and I was honest. Told him since feb I only get in a few walks here and there. this is due to the fact i had major surgery in Feb and just as i was getting up to par after that, I began experiencing extreme pain that is terribly aggrivated by much activity. (will be having a hysterectomy the 28th of this month and that should take care of that pain...but then another recovery period). He said he can hardly believe I am doing so well without consistant exercise, and praised me on the fact that i had to be following a very excellent eating plan and keeping portions in control. (which I do). He did tell me that once i recover from this next surgery, he'd like me to focus on the exercise. He said that the 2 biggest things he see's in long term success are 1. regular exercise
2. Eating slowly and proper portions and foods.

The only real complaint he has is that I have gone back to a BAD habit since my RNY...Smoking..which i am going to try yet again to stop..for the 4th time. Smoking after WLS causes severe ulcerations which must be repaired surgically. So to all of you who were smokers before your wls...DO NOT g back to it!   Now i have to psych myself up to try again t quit..only this time I really need to stay quit! Just can't seem to get that part down pat...  ARGHHHHH

Wow your doing great but yes you really need to quit smoking.  I know its hard to quit.  I went through this years ago with my dad.  You are my inspiration. 3 more lbs thats great.  just dont celebrate with cake. lol.  Are you never aloud to drink pop again.  I was told after 6 mos.  Then others say never.  I dont want it now but I know around the holidays I might want a little.

You are supposed to avoid it forever. The regular soda is packed with sugar and the diet soda is bad new too. There is an article on it in our group blog. Link is to the right of this page---> You should read it, it is very informational.

Wow, what a great Dr's report. Smoking is a hard habit to break and it's so tempting at times. I have tried extremely hard to not go back to it.

As for the exercise, I haven't been doing so much of that myself lately. I do feel a difference and I know in the long run I need to be more active for life. I do make some small choices daily, like I take the stairs in the office building and I park far away and walk. I take my daughter to the park daily and today I bought a seat for my bike so we can bike ride.

I am so glad that your report is good, and his advice on long term success is good. Thanks for the reminder.

Congrat's on your 2yr surgiversary!

What an inspiration you are! I would love to go back to my surgeon (even though he's in FL and I'm in TN) and him tell me to STOP loosing! Instead I'm afraid he will tell me to start loosing and get back on the exercise wagon...LOL ok maybe I should walk/run beside the wagon...LOL Anyway. CONGRATS!

lol... thanks..You will get there my friend! Just take one step at a time... or maybe a couple.. I told him I'd like to lose another 10 or 15 and he about flipped.. lol He said with my height and large bone structure and muscularture that if I lost that much more I'd not be at all happy with it. He also said it would zap my energy. I said "what energy?" I have long since lost that..but hoping the hysterectomy will help in that area. Many say it did for them, so i am hoping for the best.
BUT I still plan to lose that last 3 lbs anyhow to get to my goal of 150. He says i am an ornery one..lol

Me???? Ornery??? Never....lol

Patrece first let me say " Congratulations"!!!  I hope maybe one day to hear the words that I need to stop losing.

I will be praying for you on your upcoming surgery.

Thanks so much! I too hope you will hear those words one day. It is something that really blows you away, after fighting obesity for so long.

I am to the point now that to lose anything, it takes much work and focus, so to stop losing will be easy..but now it is on to the long term success and maintenance, which requires me to be mindful of all of my choices throughout the day each and every day.

Your prayers are appreciated!

Congrats on the successes over the last 2 years my friend. Kudos on being so close to your personal goal. I agree with your MD, do not overdo on the losing. I want you around to bounce idean off.

Give me the strength to say NO to any and all calls from work this weekend. I am off till Monday, worked another 12 hour shift last night, started and ended the 10 shift schedule with a 12 hour shift. I did use one of my personal holiday shifts la couple of days ago, it was grand to sleep all night that night.
