New Kid On The Block! :)
Hi all!
I'm Raven, relative 'newbie' to all this. I underwent RNY on May 26th, and to date I've dropped about 32 pounds. Being a 'big girl' all my life (food's always been a mix of addiction and comfort for me, really) this is a huge step for me, and I'm finding myself having to battle a LOT of the old habits and start new ones. The biggest 'hitch' for me is the dreaded exercise - I have to remind myself that to be effective I need to sweat and puff /pant a bit! :)
I've been poking through the various discussions, and I'm really excited to be here!
Cheers,
Raven

Welcome to the family Raven. Yes, exercise is needed and I always feel better when done. It does take time some days to convince myself to get off my duff and do it. Now that weather is nice outdoors, I take the dogs for walks, and a tired dog after a walk is a good dog. They rest very well after a 2-3 mile hike.
Congrats on the great loss since surgery. Now time for both of us to work on our minds and feeding our soul and body. Food feeds the body, the rest of life feeds the non nutritional needs of our bodies. Play hard, make exercise fun. Loser's unite for mutual support. Go, fight mental roadblocks, win health, lose weight. Sounds a bit like a cheer, cheers to all of us losers. Hugs

Thanks Kathy!
One of my 'addictions' is computers and the web - it's easy to lose track of time while researching something, reading, playing etc. Speaking of beautiful weather though it's gorgeous here, and since we're looking at 90+ degrees, I'm going to get my walk in NOW so I don't melt and turn into a lobster. :-)
Thanks for the welcome! Looking forward to diving in and getting to know everyone more in the coming days/weeks/months etc. while on this new path!

Hi Raven and Welcome.
You and I had surgery a day apart, so I am very close to where you are in recovering. I am still not exercising the way I should, but feel like I am still early out and letting my body recover on the inside. Don't be too hard on your self and keep taking one step at a time, even if they are baby steps.
You have done great with your weight loss, so obviously you are doing something right. Keep up the good work and I look forward to hearing more about your weight loss journey.

Hi Bonnie!
Thanks for the welcome - and I know what you mean about 'taking it slow'. I've been making a habit of at least going out for a brisk walk daily - and the last couple of days I've been taking advantage of the heated pool at the gym I go to - water aerobics for the win!
Congratulations on your surgery as well! It sounds like you're making great strides too! :)

Welcome Raven! Glad to have you here. You are doing great on the weight loss. If you find it hard to set aside big blocks of time to walk and exercise, try breaking it into 2 15 minute sessions or 3 ten minute sessions, until you begin to adjust. The important thing is to get it in. Exercise is one of the neccessary things we need to have in place for long term success. You will do fine, just do it one "step" (haha) at a time.
Looking forward to sharing in yur journey with you.
