stress eating
when does it stop? how do u change a lifetime of habits? our car died today, transmission is almost gone on it. so we have no car and we both go to school and he works. his mom doesnt seem to be helping much and shes out of town so if my dad doesnt call me back then he has to call off work tomrrow and risk getting fired. i need a reliable car! no money and no credit makes it impossible. i wanted to eat a double portion and get some pepsi so bad. ive done neither but my stomach is irritated with me and my mind is racing. it wants its old fix back of caffine and sugar. ive been doing these changes for a month now and my body is still fighting me. does it ever get any easier? i dont know if anyone else had to go through a long presurgery diet or not. and weight loss has stalled. i am holding even at 20 lbs lost. and exercising has been such a chore lately.
Twenty pounds is impressive without the tool of surgery Sara. Sorry that you are in a bind. We are so dependent on transportation.
Do not eat your worries away. Get on your computer and put your thoughts and feelings down. Make a list of pro and con's to eating stress away. Then study the list of con's and come up with a stradegy to deal with the issues. Take your child for a walk to the park, enjoy listening to the birds sing. Use this pre surgery time to permanently adjust your eating habits. It takes 3 weeks for a change to become a habit. Do your best to celebrate the changes you have accomplished. Giving up soda and sugar is a big one, you can continue to be a success with this diet change.
Do not bring the tempting foods into the house. Your entire famly can and will get by without soda. Put the sugar container in the back of the cupboard, out of sight, out of mind. Keep fresh veggies or pre steamed ones handy to warm in the microwave when you are needing to snack. Just doing something else for 10 minutes can be enough distraction to get you past the urgent urges. Best of luck with getting the transportation lined up for the upcoming week. Hugs

I know exactly how you feel. Most of my probs were before surgery. Now I still have some cravings but I eat a sugar free popsicle and it helps. You have to be in control of your body and food. Dont let the food control you. If you were strong enough to go through surgery. Your strong enough for any battles that come your way. Im here to help. Check out my blog. Take Care.
As someone else mentioned.. the food is only a very temporary soothing. But after the food, more stress comes about with the guilt, and the possible stall in loss or even gain. The food tastes and feels good for but a moment. Find creative ways to distract your mind from the food and the stress. Be strong. You can do this. And yes, eventually, if you work at it, it will get easier.
So sorry about your car!
Hugs!
