Good news last week
I went to my appointment at the local diabetes center for help in lowering my blood sugar numbers. They have been up a little bit lately. MD says that this is just part of the disease and we need to adjust my pills. She added another diabetic pill to my schedule. Anyway, back to the good news - - - -
I had a stress test before surgery, and I was out of shape, not a big surprise there. Just confirmed what I already knew. The gals at the diabetic center did a modified stress test on the treadmill. I survived and didn't even want to sit in a chair to recover. The test shows that my fitness level has inproved by 21% in the last year. Yes, 21%, that feels good to my ego and gives me motivation to continue on the healthy habits that I have been practicing. I struggled when they increased the incline on the treadmill above 12% and the speed above 4.2 mph. then that was expected. We plan to repeat this test yearly to see the improvements.
I was given goals to use for exercising on the equipment at the gym. They explained the mets thing on the electronic screen and gave me a goal of level of mets for a goal during exercise. I went to the gym immediately after the treadmill test, hopped on an eliptical machine and found out that I had not been working at my potential. I am not at the baseline workout level they suggested but will work on improving my worklevel.
It is nice to have a gaol to work at instead of just using the numbers on the scale. The numbers have not been dropping like I want, I anticipate the increased exrcise will break this stall. I am so happy that I am not gaining, just bouncing about in a 3-4 pound range. Maintenance of sorts.
I stopped by the local farmers market for fresh veggies and fruits and have lovely ideas for using zucchini this weekend. Today I plan to saute it with onions and garlic to have with my leftover turkey meatloaf. Nummmmmm
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Hugs

That's great Kathy, I wish I had a baseline fitness level to compare to. - A real motivator. - to exercise and eat well.
My numbers haven't been moving much on the scale lately, but I have increased my workouts, and feel so much better for them, I even did my 1st spin class on Friday, 1st one in maybe 6 years!

It was, mixed yellow zucchini an onion and sliced carrots. Added a bit of water to finish the cooking. Lovely color combination.

Yeayyyyy Kathy! I agree it is much easier when you know what it is you need to be shooting for. It pushes you forward and builds your endurance for sure! Best of luck with that scale cooperating!
