Bariatric Buddy
finally 5 days after RNY
I went in on the 1st. and they found a hernia so that was also repaired....and I was in pain.....like wow my back and stomach were killing me....Child birth was easier for me...ummm all of them combined..lol....and had acid reflux and nausea so was throwing up, could not hold down the ice chips and dry gagging with blood(sorry, TMI)....that was no fun and lasted 2 days....so finally got home and can only walk for limited times....then i am in pain from the hernia I am guessing...but then sometimes feels like i don't have good circulation so that scares me the Doc said don't worry but i am scared I popped something or did something from all the throwing up....I don't think i am having any problems from the RNY....lol....that s the crazy part....but day by day getting alot better...woke up this morning with minimal pain....and moving around.....actually decided to get up and get online.
Wow girl.. you had a hard time. But it will soon get much better. My guess is the hernia repair is causing you more problems than the RNY as you are thinking. If you continue to have trouble with acid, use a prilosec equivalent daily. MOST RNY patients never have issues with acid after surgery, but a handful will...including me! i have to take an acid reducer every day or I am one miserable pup. But I had trouble with acid before rny too.
If child birth wa easier, I am guessing you had an epidural..lol. But you definately bounce back quicker from childbirth than this. Just walk tiny walks several times a day. This is important for preventing blood clots from developing. Drink lots of fluids and rest when your body says it needs it. You will begin to feel better each day more and more.
Congrats on your surgery! Welcome to the losers bench!!!!!!

Hang in there. It does get easier daily. I too felt like I did when I had my c-section. But it does get better pretty quickly when you start to see improvements. Rest all that you can, get your liquids and proteins in, and walk when you can. When I started walking my body seemed to recover faster, so walkwhen you feel like it regardless of how slow you go. You'll be up and moving around in no time. Take care!
