Struggling with pre-op diet
Hi Donna;
It does get better. After day 5 I found it got a lot better for me. What also helped me is chewing gum (see if your dr is ok with this) because I wanted to chew something. Make sure to drink LOTS of water as well, this will help prevent some complications post-op, The other thing to consider as well is what is making you hungry. Don't get me wrong, you are consuming drastically fewer calories and there is a very physical reason for the hunger. However, sometimes there can be emotional factors or stressors that drive the hunger feeling. It was something I discovered about myself and did not realize it until I started this process.
The other thing you may want to consider is doing some sort of activity to distract yourself from the hunger feeling. Hope this helps.
Take care,
Michelle

Day 5 ended up being a breakthrough for me. I needed to get over myself and get creative with it! I went back to my program's diet info and saw how I could really do this. After hearing that some people are on total liquid pre-op diets, I am truly grateful for my one Atkins-type meal a day--which I am now making the most of!
AWESOME!!!!!! Those breakthoughs are one of the biggest keys to our success in this journey. Glad you were able to recognize it and can make the most of it. You will do great!
