thought i'd poke at everyone's minds and see if anyone wanted to share their favorite recipe that they can still eat after surgery. i love chicken meals and my favorite veggies are carrots or broccoli cauliflower mixed bags. but i like them mushy.

Sara, there is a thread above with many wls friendly recipes, also a recipe forum here on OH. I still cook many of my usual dishes from before surgery, omitting some or all of the carbs/starches. Just take in smaller portions, focus on high quality protein first. Two bites of protein for each bite of veggie, then if still room near the end of the meal, a bite of carbohydrate.

If you google "bariatric cookbook" there are a couple of really good cookbooks for wls. I'm a foodie so I've already bought mine lol. There's also a really fun blog, www.bariatricfoodie.com with recipes for everything from shakes to meals.

one thing you can do is grill some boneless skinless chicken breasts, and make extra. Keep the extra on hand to cut up and then do it as a stir fry with the veggies you enjoy. just be sure not to use bunches of fat in preparing the stirfry. Just a touch of non stick cooking spray should do it.

I've posted a couple of recipes in the "recipes" thread and hopefully I'll post some more in the future. Remember: you will be eating very simply for a few months post-op, so don't fret about it yet.
