UPDATE
I went to my bariactric center a couple weeks ago and I had sadly gained 24 pounds. I went back on July 1st and I gladly lost 6.5 pounds of it. I now weigh 305.5. I got my endoscopy results which showed I have a hinadal hernia. I am not sure how they plan on fixing it yet. I have to go to my last nutrition class and pay for the 9 day protein shakes, then we are ready for surgery. The doctor I had to see said we are looking into begining of August or middle of August. Is it weird to be excited for this surgery. I mean I been waiting for a year and 2 months now. If anyone has any ideas what I can do with the 9 day protein shake please let me know. Thanks I appreciate it

Hi Missy;
There are a lot of things you can do with the shakes. Add Crystal Light or instant coffee. I really liked the tangerine/grapefruit Crystal Light with the vanilla protein shake - tastes almost like a creamsicle.
My only piece of advise is this - drink LOTS of water.
During the Optifast stage I did not drink enough water and the drs believe I was likely dehydrated prior to the surgery. As a result this has caused more pain post-op. Once your stomach is smaller it's even more difficult to get the required amount of fluid in your body. I am still struggling with it and taking things one step at a time.
Good Luck!

Missy, look at the 9 days of shakes as the first step in this great adventure. I am here for your support. What directions did your surgeon's staff give you for dealing with the shakes? Any additional supplements, liquids that you are required to drink? Do try to drink as much fluid in general as you can. It helps to keep something in your stomach to keep the hunger pangs away. I got to eat (chew) on sugar free popsicles along with some other low calorie liquids during the liquid stage before surgery. Hugs
Congrats on being so close to surgery. Hang in there through the liquid diet. It gets easier as you go along. We are all here for you!
