how did u deal the worry?
Sara
I'll give you the same advise I was given.
RELAX.. BREATHE...BIG BREATH IN... AND OUT.. REPEAT! LOL!
First of all anxiety is normal, I almost backed out a lot of times. Afraid of making the wrong decision, can I do this? and yes.. dying!
But I figured I could go out 2 ways.. wishing I did something or while doing it.
Well.. I'm still here and there is a lot less of me!
I would be worried if you weren't anxious, scared, trembling in your sneakers..etc...
Ultimately, I had to trust in my decision and my surgeon's skill. I chose him based on his rep. and talking to other patients of his..
You are doing this for You! Either your weight will eventually get you (my brother died almost 2 years ago from his weight (he weighed 600+ when he died) or you can do something in an effort to help yourself.
Where wls is different, is in the complications possible after... but again, all surgeries have thier own set of complications. In most cases tho, if you get in your liquids, vitamins and supplements, it usually goes well. I had zero complications! (other than the typical learning curve on my pouches moods and tolorances). My daughter also had RNY, about 6 months before me. She did have a few complications, but she stayed aware of what was happening in her body, and she is very healthy and about to deliver her first child! Ask her today... she'd do it again in a heartbeat, even IF she had to endure the complications again. (thats not how she felt during them...haha ... but now absolutely)
When i was moving forward to have my surgery, here's how I felt...which is not how everyone feels.. we are all different. But I told my husband I'd rather die on that operating room table trying to get this weight off and get healthy, then die this slow and miserable death I am now. And i meant it. I felt horrible mentally, emotionally, physically...had comorbidities and just couldn't stand it all. My wieght kept creeping up no matter what i did.. I was miserable.
A big key is to be VERY informed on your procedure, what to expect, but having total fAITH IN YOUR SURGEON IS KEY.. If you don't...find one that you can have this faith in. Ask him the stats for HIS patient outcomes.. I asked my surgeon, and he was not at all offended.
