Bariatric Buddy
Introducing Myself
Thank you Kathy B for accepting me to this group. I am very excited to make new WLS friends and hopefully be able to help other as I go forward.
My RNY is scheduled for 7/6/10 so..yep you guessed it I started my 10 day today. As of this moment I did not think it was bad at all. We will see how I feel later in the process.
I am a 38 yr old wife and mother of 2. I decieded to have WLS about a 1 1/2 ago. I have always been "the bigger one" out of my friends and family. I have made this choice due to several reasons. First, is for myself. I have always felt there is a "healthy/skinny girl" trapped inside my body. Second, is for my health. I have a long family history of heart disease, high BP and diabetes. I already have one out of the three with the other two just waiting to show there ugly heads. The third is very simple, for my husband and kids. I do not want to leave them too early over something I can hopefully prevent.
Anyway, that is a little about me. I would love to hear from each of you. Good, bad or ugly about your journey. What has worked and what has not worked, good reciepes etc.....
Have a good night and talk to you all soon......

The good? Your doing the right thing taking control.
The bad? This is not a fix to all your problems if you are an emotional eater.
The ugly? You will put weight on if you do not follow your MD's advice, exercise, and eat the correct foods.
Learn from me...I did this the hard way and I'm in the ugly right now. But I have began the process to re-learn everything and began getting support from OH members.
Many blessings,
Alicia
I am married, we share our home with two small dogs. Work, life and things keep us busy. I love to craft, especially make quilts. Getting to a healthy state is my goal, this surgery is one of my tools. I am much healthier than when I started out. My health list includes diabetes, depression, sleep apnea for the biggies. Losing weight has helped all of these. More to come with continued losing. My knees are singing the praises of less weight to carry about.
Come share often, we are here for support of all. Hugs

The good: I am at a normal BMI
The bad: It takes dedication to achieve life long success with this
The Ugly: If you get off track, you will regain eventually.
Good luck with the pre-op diet. Reach out for any answers or encouragement you may need.
