OK I am happy I have lost total of 36 pounds and 8 inch's around the waist and inch's every where else. My problem is depression never been depressed before. I can't eat the foods that most can. My stomach is sensitive.  Has any one else gone through this depression? Wanting to sleep constantly ? Just feel blah?  I am going to make a appointment with my primary to see whats up I know it is to do with the wls. I am getting used to the idea I can no longer eat some foods and will never be able to eat certain amounts of food. Then it doesn't help to hear the doctors say you will only lose 100 when I need to lose 200 the heck with them I am losing 200 don't care if it takes 2 years going to do it. Also does any one have any ideas how to lose the flab under the arms those flabby wings? As of right now I eat 3 tablespoons of food 4 to five times a day I hold down if I am lucky 2 meals a day.  I go through spurts will be real active for four or five days. Then depression for three. Can't stand it! Please help lol

I'm sorry your feeling depressed.  I can only imagine at this point how you must be feeling.  I have not had the surgery yet (Just started the process).  So I can't offer you advice from a point of having WLS yet.

I'm glad you made an appt with your Dr.   And I hope the Dr can offer you a solution that will work for you.

Do you have any hobbies?  Maybe right now, really, really concentrate on your hobby.  Or get an uplifting, positive, fun book to read.  Or take a walk.  If you work in an office, take a brisk walk when you think negative thoughts or go up and down a few flights of steps.  take an MP3 player with you and load fun, fast, happy music and listen to it.  I know it's easier for me to give advice when I haven't had WLS yet, but those are just a few of the things that make me feel better or take my mind off of something that I can't change or can't stop thinking about.

I have heard and read stories of many people being able to lose 200lbs with GBS.  I need to lose 150 and I was told that i would most likely be able to do it and maybe more.  Hopefully you will be able to get past feeling so sick and I hope you will be able to find something to eat that will allow you to feel better.

June, bouts of depression are common, a lot need the help of an antidepressant for a bit. I was on one before surgery and wouldn't dream of being without mine. Hang in there, taking a med for a chemical imbalance will cure the blahs in a couple of weeks. Bouts of exhaustion are also common, goes along with depression sometimes. You body is getting used to the new amount of fuel that you are eating and will go through episodes of energy and lethargy. Try to be out and about and get in some walking. Helps with the blahs, depression and lethargy by releasing good endorphins.

Your loss in wonderful, keep working your tool. Take meals that settle well with your pouch and keep up on the vitamins and fluids. Hugs

June.. first of all, your doc can only guess at what you will lose. Why would you lose only 100 when I only needed to lose 120 and have lost 117???? You can lose 200! It will take dedication and devotion and effort but you can do it! I have faith in you.

Second... click this link to our group blog...there is an article I posted there that addresses this depression and emotional spikes after wls.. it will help you understand part of what is happening with you. http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/bariatricbuddy/blog/2009/08 /23/did-you-ever-wonder-why-after-/

Lobve and hugs coming your way. Maybe try to eat more slowly or stick with easy to hold down foods while your pouch continues to heal for you.

Hi!
Now that you heard me whine.. how about I try to help you out a little! LOL
My pouch was sensitive for awhile after surgery, nausea..etc.

What helped me was "eating"/ drinking cold items.  I know it sounds weird because cold is supposted to make your pouch contract, but it's the only thing that worked for me.

Give it a try.  Hope it helps..
