Have I hurt myself?

Hi everyone, I hope you didn't miss me too much. The past couple of weeks have been hellishly difficult for me, and I stayed away because I was in a feeling sorry for myself mood. At last, yesterday was my last day of steroids. I cut them short by a couple of days because I couldn't stand the way they made me feel any more. Almost as if by a miracle, my appetite was gone and the stomach stricture was back in full force. A little TOO forcefully if you ask me.

Here is what happened. While I was taking the 'roids, it seemed that I could never get enough to eat. I'd eat and 1 hour later I'd be hungry again. Also, it seemed that my stomach could hold a lot more, although that is probably due to the fact that I ate a lot more carbs than I should have, since proteins sat too heavily with me.

Yesterday (Saturday) I tried to get back to my usual post-op diet. I tried a little chicken, a few veggies, some cheese...

I threw up the cheese at breakfast and the chicken at lunch and for dinner I made some tomato soup, which was the only thing that stayed put in my stomach. I have a migraine headache for the past 24 hours and my stomach hurts. I wonder if I could have damaged my sleeve with the 'roids and the constant eating?

If anyone has a similar experience, I could sure use some advice!

Ouieeeeee Amalia,  I wish I was there to give you a hug.  Please do not make your only exercise kicking yourself in the butt.  When you are feeling lousy, we are the place to come and kick the topic around.

Please check with your surgeon as far as the stomach pain, the roids could have caused an ulcer.  The headache could also be from coming off the roids.  Make sure you are getting in enough fluids.

Give your pouch a break from the food feast, back to basics.  And don't stay away when you are feeling poorly.  We are here during bad times and good.  Wishing some good times headed your way.  Mega hugs Amalia.

I could sure use that hug Kathy. I've been taking a double dose of my stomach meds every day since I started the cortisone in order to protect my stomach. My mom almost died from an ulcer gone berserk many years ago and I've been vigiland ever since. This pain feels more like stricture gone wild. I'm good with the water.

I know you are here for me in bad times too, Kathy and I do appreciate it. I just seem to be plagued by perennial problems and I see no point in whining about them continuously.

Dito what Kathy said... the steroids could definately cause "stomach" issues. maybe an acid reducer could help. It may be a good idea to go to liquids for a day or so and give it a chance to feel better. Then do your 3 day carb detox again.  Most likely the only way there is damage is if the steroids caused it, but it may be worth a call to the doc to make sure.

When ever food issues like vomitting come up, it is best to give your tool a break for a day or so by going back to the liquids, and some soft foods so it can have a break and get better.

Don't stay away when you are down... those are the times you probably most need our support, even if you can't do things by the book, no one here is going give you a hard time.
Hugs to you. Rest that tool a bit, let us know how you are!

Thank you for the advice Patrece, I'll do exactly that. Two days liquid diet plus 3 days carb detox sounds good. I'll let you know if I can swallow the proteins when I try again because those are what have been giving my stomach the most trouble.
