after surgery can you have pasta salad in moderation, after u eat your protien and fruits/veggies? i was making a recipe book with healhier choices and wanted to know if i am still allowed that. or what r u absolutely not allowed, or sometimes allowed? i know pop is out. and im 5 days out with no pop and i actually feel great. :)

After quite a while out you can have just a tiny tad, BUT must be whole grain or wheat pasta, and no fat based dressing used on it.  Best to avoid it if you can't go with those guidelines.. Hope this helps.

Hey Sara, you won't really miss the pasta salad after surgery. Tastes change, and you will want to choose your proteins first. And there will be little room left for those white, starchy carb type foods. Focus on eating healthy, and the rest will fall into place.

My hubby wanted pizza last evening, I ate to toppings off a slice, tried the crust, just one bite, I was satisfied with the toppings and left the crust alone, didn't really miss it(the crust that is). The greasiness of the pizza just doesn't have the attraction that it once had.

I am proud of you for quitting the pop. Congratulations. I feel better now without the pop too. Lots of chemicals and preservatives that we are no longer adding to our bodies.

Gevien enought time after surgery, we are talking many months, you will be able to have a bite or two of your favorite foods, but if something is a trigger to overeat, it should be avoided. No sense in causing trouble by what we eat.

We need to think of eating as a lifestyle, not a "diet". This is a lot to wrap your mind around. Take this one step at a time. You will get to the right spot. Hugs

thank you. I'm doing so well i just need to get my butt exercising more. i do see it as a lifesyle and want to know about my fav foods, but like u said moderation if its healhy but i wont miss pasta salad. we only make it a handful of times a year anyways and we go all out. :( family gatherings will be awful, but i am so ready to change. i wish i could get myself to eat more variety of things i'll actually be allowed. maybe with time. plus i found some frozen and fresh veggies i like. pressure cooker here I come maybe in september. i feel great making these changes and i dont beat myself up for an extra snack or bad dinner, i just try harder the next time or make up for it with extra water and maybe no snack. i love the cIb  so thats a problem LOL. but i am being good and having 1 c for breakfast or bedtime snack and thats it. i think i'll have one tonight be4 bed. i still need to change when i eat last be4 bed b/c i dont pay attention. but im learning but i know i have lots more to learn. thanks girls :)
