before surgery how did u fit in your 3 meals a day? does it count if u have some snacks but miss say breakfast? i have a hard time getting up in time to eat breakfast. sometimes i eat breakfast at 11, then lunch at 1 or 2 and dinner btwn 4 and 6. i am not a morning person and some of the meds i am on just dont make me hungry. i do get hungry at night though but it depends on how hungry. my daughter is "on vacation" with 2 of my aunts so ive been taking the time to sleep in and i woke up at 6 and had a granola bar and went back to bed, but i havent been yelled at by the dietician but we've only had 1 appointment so far. i just wanted to see if anyone had any advice, suggestions, or comments about the situation. ive seen your diets youve posted after wls so i know what im up for and im willing to change, i just wasnt sure how to looe my 20 some pounds now, and im sure the pop and weird meals are preventing it. i start school in less than a month so my appiete is going to go up no doubt... gotta check on kitten its been trying to chew wires. ugh.

Morning Sara, keep the critter from the wires.  No electified kitty needed. lol

As far as breakfast, your body does need some nutrition in the morning to rev up metabolism.  If you are not into fixing something, go for a serving of sugar free carnation instant breakfast (CIB).  You will get in some protein and get your body started for the day.  Some of us still use the CIB after surgery.  Your meals are grouped closely together with a long fast as things are set up now.  When you are in school, you will need good nutrition for brain power.  What are you going to be studying?

Are you getting in some exercise every day?  This too will increase your metabolism and you will see those 20 pounds slip off.  Getting into the good healthy habits of a lifetime asap is in all of our best interests.  Go cold turkey on the soda if you can.  You may have headaches for 2-3 days, depending on the volume of soda you are drinking.  The headaches are withdrawl and they will pass.  Drink lots of water, crystal light, etc. to flush the caffiene out of your system.

Remember today is the first day of the rest of your life, live it to the fullest.  Hugs

Prior to surgery (or actually the diet before surgery)  I rarely ate anything until dinner time, then I usually ate something else LATE in the evening, or right before bed. This was a  lot of why I was heavy. I put my bady in starvation mode, then ate way too much fat, carbs, etc for dinner and then ate right before going to bed and usually junk of some kind.

I can relate very much to not wanting to eat in the morning. I am not a morning person either, and am NOT hungry in the mornings. But I make myself eat something high in protein like yogurt or cottage cheese, or have a protein shake or sugar free carnation instant breakfast. it is something you mUST learn to do to get the weight off and keep it off Even after surgery, especially then, youhave to do this. Otherwise later.. you are setting yourself up for regain.

Eating breakfast or drinking a protein shake, within 30 minutes of waking up will rev up your metabolism for the day. You body feels comfortable that food will come and so will not begin the day in starvation mode. This should result in a bit more energy and your body will be more cooperative with burning the fat.

Just say NO to soda pop! even diet is not conducive to weight loss and maintenance.

best of luck, hope this helps!

oh and about exercise... i need to. we're trying to get the extra tv hooked up for me to do my work out tapes but it looks like i'll have to do it because ive been asking hubby for a week. i think im going to walk the track and take gabby on her bike too at the park, but i hate the heat. i cant breathe or function so i'drather exercise with the fan on until we can get a gym memebership again, but i hate going to the gym or anywhere because everyone looks at how huge i am. or it seems that way.

Hey sara, I went to the gym at 350#, the others are encouraging.  Do not let your size stop you.  Anything active you do will help increase metabolism.  Walk while your child rides bike, go during the cooler parts of the day if your can.  Walk the stairs at home, anything to move your muscles.  I too prefer a fan during workouts, the gym I go to has a few fans located between the machines, it helps.  But lots of things can be done without a gym membership.  Lift soup cans, laundry bottles, walk the steps, stroll the streets, leg lifts while watching TV.  Try to get in a few leg lifts with each commercial, amazing how much activity you can get only during commercials, yes, I am saying that there are a lot of commercials.

It was great chatting at you this am.  You can make the needed changes, one at a time and they will soon be habits.  Hugs

thank you. the gym membership we want even has a pool. i hope we'll have the money to join in september. they even have daycare!! :) kitten needs to see the vet but i think we can work it out. or keep looking for a cheaper gym. theres one  1/2 mile away thats about 30 bucks a month. we live in the projects so i hate going for walks but as long as its daytime its an option. i used to walk when we lived 2 streets over, to the store and i hated it. lol. i do the stairs but not for excericise, for need. i have a few exercise tapes i want to start doing. i'd like to find some more too. but what i really want is a exercise bike and treadmill but the gym membership is cheaper lol.
