New Here
I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm trying to get weight loss surgery and i've met with the dietician once and psych once. having some issues with my home shrink but i need to call and talk to my psychologist at the place that'll do my surgery. im having transportation problems though because no one wants to take me, so that fun. :( and insurance requires a 9 month diet so i've started that. it has to be conceutive and physican documented otherwise i'd have it done already. i got type 2 diabetes last year and have been going to the dr every 6 months or so but now i've topped out his scale. but i am excited, and really want the surgery and i know its not a quick fix, but i need the help and support and weight has almost always been an issue for me.
You can do this Sara. Where there's a will, there's a way. I needed to do 6 months with the dietician before surgery and it was worth it. We worked on changing my habits. It takes just a few short weeks to make a new habit. The lifelong ones do need to be replaced. Those old habits did us no good, look where we are/were.
I too have type 2 diabetes, have had it for a few years now. I was on insulin shots and oral pills. I am glad to say that I took my last insulin shot the day before my RNY. I still need to take oral meds, but that is so much better than poking myself a few times a day to inject insulin.
I have been obese since childhood. I wish that I had been smart and had this surgery a couple of decades ago, but I did get it done and am so much healthier for it. Looking forward to getting to know you better. Write posts often. Hugs

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Hi there, I'm so glad you decided to post with us. I'm from Ohio too! I had to do a six month diet with my physician and now that I've had the surgery I really think it's a good idea. It's really hard at first, making healthy choices but I know you can do it. It takes a lot of hard work and desensitizing your palette. These fast food places must put something in there food to make you addicted to it. My biggest thing that helped me during my six months was walking, and journaling what I ate and the amount of calories I was eating. It makes it easier when you cross over to the losers side. Don't worry about the transportation issue now. Make a good faith effort to do everything the insurance and psych wants and your family will come along. No one likes change. I was thankful my ex took me to the hospital and picked me up. If all else fails and you live close enough to hospital take a cab. Maybe you will meet someone on here that lives near your town that would be willing to help out. Just some food for thought. Good Luck!
