Vitamins and protein?
And, I do plan on meeting with the nutritionist next week!
Daisy
As for vitamins, I take building blocks brand bariatric vitamins. you can check these out at www.bbvitamins.com They taste good. Offered in chewable, capsules and liquid forms, so you should be able to find a form you can handle. I actually really like the chewables, much better than any others.
Best of luck to you.
Oh yes, you can also add protein powder to other soft foods (use unflavored) to help increase your protein intake. Greek yogurt has a high protein content naturally.

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Hey Daisy, you nutritionist has great advice, so did the others that shared here. Immediately after surgery, my MD had me on carnation instant breakfast with a little protein powder added. They were palatable, the extra protein must blended in and I did not notice it. Be sure to but the sugar free variety of instant breakfast if you go that route. Comes in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry for variety. I also added greek yogurt, low sugar yougarts during the first few weeks.
Our taste buds change after surgery, things that you tolerated, you may not and visa versa. Have samples of a viariety of proteins to try. I am looking forward to sharing the losing bench with you in a couple of weeks. Hugs

I think everyone has trouble with protein, I am no different. I tried a lot of samples available at www.mybariatricpantry.com Some I like some not, but was happy that I only had 1 of each.
The best protein for me is EAS lite brand, I prefer the vanilla because you can do so much with it. Adding your own flavoring, crystal lite, blend with fresh fruit.
As far as vitamins I take centrum complete a day, b12 sub lingual, ADEK all in one, all 2 times a day. Then calcium citrate 3 times a day to equal 2000mg. You will need these to be chewable for at least 6 weeks.
You should be able to meet with your nutritionist at least once before surgery. We had a 4 hour seminar 2 weeks before with a nurse, physical therapist and nutritionist who gave us a large insert able notebook to add all the paperwork with information into. I went to that book at least once a day.
You do great, best wishes, Anna
I too do not like the protein shakes. They are just too thick and chalky but I do like the unjury unflavored because you can put it in yogurt and almost anything else. My dietitian told me that because of the amount of milk I drink I could cut back on the protein shakes. There is 9 grams of protein in one cup of milk (check your labels). I have found milk more tasty than the protein shakes in a big way. I wish you the best.
