Hi everyone!

I'm new to the group and just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Jessica and I had RNY on February 18th of this year.  So far, things are going really well, no strictures or anything,  I know, I'm lucky!!  I'm 13 weeks out and have lost 51 lbs.  I think it's a little slow, but I guess I'll have less flabby skin, right?

But, overall, I'm doing well, just here for motivation, support and the day to day interraction from people who understand me!  My husband and family are great support, but they can't fully relate.

I'm up for any advice or suggestions.

Take care and good luck on all of your weight loss journeys!

Jessica

Hey there Jessica! Congrats on your surgery and welcome to our group!
You may feel like the loss is slow, but it really isn't! The more one has to lose, the faster it goes. You are losing about right for where i see your goal being set. If you hit stall outs, try to increase water, increase protein, and shake up your exercise routine. this will often spur on the fat burning to begin again.
But really, think about it... when was the last time you lost a whole 51 lbs in just 13 weeks? You are doing fabulous!
You may be interested in our monday evening chats. kathy B sends out the reminders every monday along with the link to join in on it.
I look forward to knowing you more and walking beside you in this journey!

Thanks for your support, Patrece.

Yes, you're right, I am VERY happy with my 51 lbs and knowing that I'm half way to my goal (which I may increase, I don't want to look too sickly, my hubby likes curves. =) )

As far as the Monday discussions, I'd love to, but currently, I work nights starting at 5:30.  I should be back on days in the next few weeks, so maybe I can get into them soon.

I am having problems getting in my protein for the day, but I can NOT handle the shakes.  They're frothy and thick and gross! Blah!  But, I'm trying with my milk, cheese, yogurt and deli meats.  Any other suggestions anyone?

Cottage cheese is a good source too. You may want to consider a nectar protein, or making a protein based smoothie, with fruit, ice, milk and protein all mixed in a blender. another good way to get it in is to mix a vanilla protein into crystal light. I like vanilla protein with orange crystal light. tastes a lot like a nb orange creamsicle, and also conts as fkluids.

Maybe consider ordering a sampkle of Unjury brand chicken broth flavored protein. it is a nice change of pace as well. Whikle I KNOW it isnb't always easyto get it in, it is one of the things we must do to protect ur health in this journey. Also try no sugar added carnbation instant breakfast. Good nutritional value and protein content especually with the added milk.

try refried beans (fat free) with a bit of salsa mixed in for flavor and top with shredded cheddar. I enjoy this one quite a bit.
Also if you go to unjury.com, they have recipe ideas.
Best of luck, and let me know if I can be of any help to you in the future!

Thank you!  I'll just need to keep looking for a protein that I like, or try the unflavored ones. I haven't ordered one of those yet.

Jessica,

You may want to try different brands.  Also, the protein shakes I liked before surgery are not the same ones I like now.  Also, try mixing them with water or milk.  I find I like mine mixed with water, some do not.

For example, I buy a protein from GNC called Alpine Punch and mix it with Crystal Light.  Or I take a chocolate and add instant coffee.  Some use SF coffee syrups, fresh fruit, etc.  It is really important to get your protein in each day.

Greek yogurt is also very high in protein.

Good Luck and Welcome

Welcome to the family Jessica.  You are on a great pattern of losing.  You are among friends, we are all in the same obesity boat.  Let's paddle the boat together and support each other on this losing journey.

I had my RNY 9 months ago, I don't know where the time has gone, but it has just flown by.  My hubby does not get a lot of what I need to do for health, but he tries his best.  Come to monday eve chat sessions if you can.  I send out a reminder with a shortcut to the chat session on mondays.  Some folks drop in for a few minutes, others stay and chatter with us longer.  Topics vary, depending on who is present at the time.  Positive support flows back and forth.

Come back often to share with everyone, we love to hear updates on progress and your thoughts/questions.  Hugs
