Protien VS Milk
1st Id like to say things are going very well. On my one month date since the surgery I have lost 30 pounds and am feeling great. I went for my 3 month check up with my surgeon and he said things are good except for the pain in my back. I have to go to my other Dr for that. But the dietitian stated that because I drink so much milk I am able to cut back on my protein shakes. I was very happy to hear this since it was becoming a chore to drink them. I did order some unflavored unjury after tasting it and I will use that along with the milk. I'm happy that I can eat any foods now even though I am always so full. I found out what my problem was with feeling full while eating. It was that I was eating too fast. I was only eating about 1 oz of food but getting full. They said I should take at least 1/2 hour to eat my meals. Wow who would have thought?
Congratulations that is terrific! I love milk so I was relieved to find I was not lactose intolerant after surgery. It is pretty hard to take the 30 - 45 minutes to eat especially when our portions are so small. I do use baby spoons and little pretty egg spoons so that helps. My family has been trying to make their much larger meals last 30 minutes with me but so far their best is 15 minutes. They were kind of shocked at how fast they were eating when we had out the stop watch. LOL!
Good for you Lucy. I wish I liked milk, but have always hated it. congratulations on the 30 lbs. lost. I have lost about 22 lbs. and since I have been unable to exercise of walk much I am quite content with that. Yes, my husband is done way before me and it is difficult to put my fork or spoon down and wait but I get a much better meal that way. Eating too fast just leads to dumping or the foamies. I am so happy for you Lucy. sorry you are having problems with your back. Hope that exercise therapy can help. that was the first step when I started having back problems years ago. Walking in chest deep water and using exercise machines specifically for my back to strengthen the muscles before they did anything else. I still do those things to keep those muscles strong. Or I will as soon as this last drain is out. LOL. Now I am going to go have a protein shake with hot chocolate for breakfast and take my morning vitamins. Have a wonderful day.

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Lucy, it is hard to eat slowly, at work for the last 20 years, we never knew if our lunch break would be interrupted with an emergency and as a group we all ate at break neck speed. It is no fun to feel miserable due to overeating. The small spoon and setting it down between bites does help.
Congrats on the successful losing.
