Bariatric Buddy
New to This Group
Hello! I'm 41 years old, married to a wonderful husband, have two children and two dogs. I am a teacher and work at the high school in my hometown. I have RNY scheduled for June 21, 2010.
I'm a very happy person and love my life. However, since last year I've gotten so heavy that I've started to have back problems and foot problems. I've always been active, but this has put the brakes on the things I love to do. I've been on Weigh****chers on and off since I graduated from high school. I usually lose about 20 pounds and then stall out. My husband loses tons of weight on WW which just sends me into a depression and I give up every time. I've also tried many other diets and nothing seems to work. I've thought about my decision to have bariatric surgery for over a year now and know this is what I must do to get my life back on my terms.
I'm so excited to be a member of this group and can't wait to get to know some of you!
Monday evenings will be a live chat session, I send out reminder notices earleir on Monday with the time and a short cut to the chat area. I will be travelling during chat this week, but will catch up as soon as I can.
Men have an easier time losing wieght than women, go figure. lol Glad to have you join us on this adventure. It is work, nothing good is ever easy and care free.
I had RNY 8 months ago and my knees are sooo much happier to have less of me to carry about. I am still working on losing more to get to goal, but take this one day at a time. I am married, have an adult step-son who lives out of state and we have 2 dogs. I work night shift at the local hospital and will pop onto the OH site when I catch a moment here and there. Again welcome to the bariatric buddy group. Hugs

I am 43 married, have 2 young adult children, 2 grandbabies, and a third on the way (less than 9 weeks~!) I have 2 dogs as well.
I had my RNY July 21st 2008 and am so pleased with the results. It took a lot of focus and effort, but have only 4 lbs to get to my personal goal. I have already exceeeded my surgeons goal for me. I am now at a normal BMI and loving it. You can see my pics under my profile page if interested.
best thing I can tell you is to be sure you realize going into this that it is not the easy way out. It is great in giving you a big jump start, but you must be comitted to making the lifestyle changes necessary to enjoy life long success. These changes need to be made right away, and hopefully by the time you are a year or year and a half out, you will have a strong healthy foundation for your new way of life.
Let us know how we can help support and encourage you through this exciting journey. Ask any questions you may have. Again, welcome! It's great to have you here!
