Tommorow is weighin.

I'm still pre-op obviously, but tommorow is my first weighin with Liz my nutritionist.  This month has been a challenge and I'm both excited and nervous about tommorow.  I think I'd be happy to have lost half a pound.  But I won't get my hopes up.  I could probably have tried harder and walked more.  Other than that I am struggling with giving up soda but know I'm drinking less.  We will see!

Hi Jane, Keep your attitude positive.  You will get to the right place.  If you are having trouble giving up soda, try to drink a glass of water between each soda as a start to increase your water intake.  Using crystal light, and other sugar free flavorings helps to make the water easier to drink.  I use a lot of crystal light, or the generic equivilant to disguise the taste of the local water.  On those days where I feel the need for  a soda, I put 1/2 cup of clear diet soda into my 32 oz of crystal light for just a hint of bubbles.  You will succeed.

Let us know how your visit turns out tomorrow.  Hugs

Wishing you the best of luck with your appointment today. Be sure to let us know how it goes. I used to be a huge pepsi drinker, and thought for sure i'd never be able to give it up. BUT I did, and you will too. Try iced tea, crystal light, SF popsicles etc.

Keep up the efforts, and increase walking as you are able. You will need to start getting daily activity after surgery, now is a great time to begin to adjust to this. You can do this!

Hello .. I'm Jenn ..
I just wanted to share with you what I did to get myselff off the Mountain dew.  The big thing was to stop  buying it, along with that I started off with the Kool Aid singles that have half sugar and half sucrolose in it added those to waterbottles the purified kind of water.  Eventually i switched from that to the propel packets to add to the water.  That has no sugar in it and only the sucrolose.  Eventually i got past the point of needing to put the flavoring in the water and haven't used it in a while ..

I sort of worked my way off needing the sugar in the soda to enjoying the water.

Just my two cents on the topic,

Jenn

Hey Jenn, great to see you.  Congrats on getting off the soda.  I wish I could drink plain water more, but dislike the taste of our local water and do not care to buy the bottled stuff all the time.  Glad to have you back and posting.  Hugs

Hey ladies!  Thank you for the lovely suggestions.  I have been trying to drop soda cold turkey and I guess I keep forgetting that my body is used to the sugar.  I love the idea of weaning off with water and sugar free things.  I am definitely going to start doing this because I thought I was going crazy but withdrawal would make a sensible explanation.  lol

Oh, and I know it's not huge but it's a lot more than I expected.  I lost 3 pounds.  Wowza.  Like I said, that is not a lot but it's the first time I've lost weight in a while.  O_O  I really didn't expect to lose anything, I was trying to prepare myself for a gain to be honest.  Woohoo!

YAY 3 lbs is 3 lbs that are gone forever Jane... just wait till after your surgery:)  I can't help you with the soda addiction because my thing has been water for years. I used to drink close to a gallon of  smar****er a day but now I am not sure how much I get in... still smar****er though, I can not drink tap water..yuck. I would drink a sprite maybe once a week, once every 2 weeks but that was it. I don't miss the soda's at all but I do know how hard it can be for some people to let go of them... Take it slow and take the advice that was given to you and you will succeed..

Hugs

I used to drink coffee and diet soda - it was hard to give up.  I thought, how will I ever stay awake.  Eventually, I was able to give it up and my energy level has increased since the surgery.  If you have headaches from giving it up you can talk to your doctor about that and they can probably give you something to help with that.

Good luck with your surgery.  When is it planned for?
