my name is Ginny and new to the site not sure how to post except found this welcome . I had RNY on 4 /21 and still having episodes of vomiting this past week hard to keep anything down. frustration is setting in but I know this will be worth it  in the long haul. I am to return to work on Friday and dread working 12 hours with little to eat or drink. vitamins have been hard to get in along with calcium. I hope to get advise from others in same situation or who have been there done that before.

Welcome to our group Ginncat. It can be a very difficult transition in the beginning. Some transition with little trouble, while others experience the issues you are, and others experience even more struggles. Hang in there it will get easier.

With the vimitting, try to be sure of a couple of things. first, are you eating things that are too hard for your pouch to digest at this time? (Solid beef, very fiberous veggies, etc) Are you eating too fast? Are you eating too much? are you chewing well? Is there a common food or drink invoved whenb you are experiencing the nausea or vomitting? Are you moving your bowels ok? If all of this seems to not be the culprit, your pouch may just be very sensative, and in time this will pass.  If you are vomitting every time you eat, talk to your surgeon right away.

Please do try hard to focus on getting in your vitamins / minerals and protein. it is very important to your health. To better assist you with this, it would help me to know what is causing the difficulty with getting them in. Is it the taste? Remembering them? Are you making you feel ill?

It is going to be tough to return to a 12 hour shift right away. Try very hard to take it easy as you go back. Take good care to get in your protein and supplements and water. Try to eat the things that seem to agree best with your new pouch. I hope the vimitting passes very soon for you.

Welcome to the group>  I don't really have any additional advice to give you.  Just wanted to say hello and hang in there.  It can be a little rough at first but you have to remember that this surgery was a big step and there are a lot of things to relearn.  We also don't always have the same tastebuds we did pre-op.  I know it might not seem like it now, but in a month or so you will look back on this, smile because you made it through the other side and be thrilled with your weight loss.

Keep posting; we are all here to support each other.
