Looking at surgery #9

Well yesterday went to the OBGYN, had an exam plus ultra sound and WHAM there on the ultra sound, the reason for the pain. Sitting on my left ovary is an endometriomia cyst, the size of my ovary. I don't think I will come out of this one with 2 ovaries. This is the biggest I have ever seen a cyst and from the doctors reaction it was probably one of the bigger she has seen. We had a feeling something was there due to all the pain I was in, and I was told that I will have to have surgery once a year to clean the endometriosis out, but when I saw that i was in so much shock I cried ( I seem to do a lot of that these days, again) Just a lot going on. So today I sit here and wait to see how soon they want to do the surgery. It can be as early as next week, BUT in 2 weeks I go on vacation (Cruise to Canada) and I was kinda hoping that they can wait til I get home. maybe? I also don't want to burn all my sick time at work. BUT if I need to I will do so. I'll check with my boss to see how much time I have left if needed.

I have a question, they said I need to go on birth control pills, not to avoid pregnancy but to keep the endometriosis down. Can I take that pill? Its small enough. But in class I know they told us no pills, but same time they did recommend us women go on birth control. I wanted to see what you guys thought, but same time I'll call my surgeon's office and see if they think it is ok to take the pill.

On a better note, weighed myself yesterday 188 (woo hoo) that was at 9:30 am .. went to the doctors 1:30pm and they said 193 (HMMMMM.. whose scale is lying, i like mine more, hahaha)  but the nurse did say you gain weight throughout the day but 5 lbs, I didn't really eat anything for lunch, cause I got a sandwich I didn't really care for. That ever happen to you, 2 scales 2 different numbers?

Well Hope everyone enjoys their day, today is my last one off for a few days, got a crazy schedule this weekend, and next few weeks, but I will make it .. take care everyone

Miss, so glad you know what is causing the pain.  Calling your surgeon is the best idea for the answer about the pill.    Each scale weight a little different, what were you wearing when you weighed at home vs Dr office.

Enjoy your busy schedule and do take time for yourself each day.  Sounds like a fun trip planned.  I am on vacation right now myself.  Loads of relaxation.  Hugs

WOW I am sorry you have to go through all that. I too had endometriosis and I ended up having a hysterectomy in 2006. I have heard that some women have less pain on the pill so it is worth a try:) .

As far as your weight is concerned, my scale and the doc's scale have a difference each time. Last Wed. I weighed 255 at doc's office.. at home I was 249.5.. today I was 248.2 at doc's .. at home I am 245.6.. So I just go with the doc's office for now but when I don't have to go every week anymore I will take my scale as the standard.

I hope you will feel better real soon.

Hugs

Melissa... I'm glad they found the problem, but so sorry it means another surgery and more down time and recovery. Take it easy on yourself. Let us know when they schedule you ok? Wishing you the best of outcomes!

I had a gyn appt on Tuesday, as I am having some severe (at times) cramping and pain. Also been having a cycle every 2 or 3 weeks heavily. Sometimes has me doubled over from the pain. He found my uterus is enlarged and very prolapsed. Did a pap, haven't heard what the results are yet. Also ordered labs and an ultrasound. He says he wants to see what the ultrasound reveals before deciding on a course of treatment, BUT he gave me a flier on Hysterectomy, and told me it is likely this will be the answer to my pain, increased bleeding and troubles. While I have no problem with saying bye bye to the monthly cycle, I am not looking forward to another surgery either. Heck still healing from the plastics. But can't take this pain anymore.

I have to say I don't recall hearing no birth control pills, just that you can't rely on them after surgery due to malaborptive issues. So I'll have to defer you to your surgeon.

Good for you on the weight loss! It is moving right along! Congrats! I always have a difference between what the doctors scale reads and what mine does, and his is always higher by 3 to 5 lbs. I think part of the difference is the liquids that we take in after we get up, the clothes we are wearing, what ever we have eaten, and usually the scales at Dr's offices are used so much they get out of whack a bit over time, and usually don't get recalibrated as often as they should. Because mine is the one I use all the time (and it reads lower haha! I go with mine. I am almost 2 years out so rarely go in now, just once a year.

take care and know you will be in my thoughts and heart!

Melissa & Patrece,
Congrads on the weight loss and Patrece also your surgery. I hope your starting to feel better.  I also had problems with endometriosis, enlarged uterus and it was tilted toward my back causing pain. I did have to have a hysterectomy. They planned to leave my overies in because of my age. ( at the time was 36) When they got in there they discovered my right overy was covered in cysts that were bleeding out they had to remove it. Those cysts didn't even show up on the ultra sound 2 months before surgery! ugh!  However, they left my left overy so i would not go into menopause right away. It was tough at first because I did have a temp. menopause until the left overy was able to catch up and do the work for itself and the right. I had to get mine done by getting my stomach cut because the uterus was so big but sometimes you can have it done now thru your private parts which heals much faster. Anyways, I felt better than I had in years after mine! The pain was gone!!! About a week or so after I got home I was doing pretty good, just have to be careful on the lifting.
Melissa, as far as the pills go my books say you can take them but dont trust them to not get pregnant!

Melissa,

I've had a ruptured ovarian cyst and believe me when I tell you they aren't fun.  Hopefully they will get you taken care of; the sooner the better.

My weight fluctuates about 5 pounds during the day so the only one I use to keep track is my first weigh in of the day.  I'm addicted to the cale; sad but true.

I hope it all works out for you and you don't iss out on your cruise.
