belching

I am 3 months out and have been moving into some meats - ham, chick, tuna. But regardless of what I eat or drink, I seem to always have to burp. Any ideas?
Thanks
Linda

I can't help but giggle a bit at this post. My daughter used to swear she knew when i was up for the day before she ever even saw me, cuz she'd hear me...belching that is. I still have times when I burp alot. Seems to be pretty common to have the gas coming from one end or the other.. i am always happier when it is in the form of a burp..lol.

You might try some mylicon if it really bothers you or is painful. It is pretty helpful for helping get rid of the air. I'm afraid tho, this is a pretty normal occurance with us bariatric folks. Just wait until all the grumbling, rumbling and bubbling starts.. Ya couldn't play hide and seek and win for the life of you!

It may ease up later, it did for me at times, but still get my bouts of burps.

PS another thought.. if you are using straws, or sippy type cups, you may try to not use them for a few days and see if that helps. some people swallow a lot of air from using these.

I can't really add anything to what Patrece said but I didn't recall ever having seen you post before so I just wanted to say "Hello!"

LOL  I am about the same out too, and my friends at work always laugh at me, because it's still a daily thing.  I apologize up one side and down the other, but they're very good-natured about it, and understand that "it is what it is", and what it is right now is a part of my life!

Still can't do chicken (tried again last night - not good!), can't do tuna either.  The only meats I don't struggle with are beef and venison.  Good thing I like both!

Good luck, if the belching doesn't cause pain then I wouldn't worry too much.  This, too, shall pass.  Eventually...

Welcome back Linda.  I wish I had words of wisdom greater than those that already posted.  The burp**** every once in a while.  I had a problem with nasty gas for a few weeks, just suggested to my co-workers that they not follow me when I head into a vacant room.  Took Devrom for a bit to help with the nasty odor of the gas.  It helped.  Best of luck with the burping, be as lady-like as you can and thankful that it is only burping.

Congrats on the wonderful loss, I noticed your ticker, wow.

I think the worst part for me, was I had no way to try to contrl the burps / belches in a more lady like way, because when they came on, it was out of the blue with no forwarning.. they just erupted out of me without me even feeling them come on.. lol... ahhh the things we must tolorate on this journey! hehehehe.

I'm 4 months post-op and have burps/belches that would make a truck driver blush. I burped one day at work, and everyone thought it was the guy I was sitting with, when I yelled excuse me they all looked at me like I was strange. I never had this problem before my by pass but its not painful, and in a way kinda funny. My friend who had bypass 4 year ago sneezes when she is full, I burp when I am full (or so i think/say) I really haven't felt the full mark yet, sometimes I feel an ache and assume I'm full, but I try not to push myself to full, scared of stretching the pouch but gotta be doing something right somewhere, now if I can just get my butt back in the gym. (Starting back tomorrow, before someone yells at me, lol)

Ok back to the point of the post, I thought belching was normal, glad to see a few others went through the same thing.

best wishes
Miss

I do it too, Linda. I usually have a series of them if I have eaten to fast or something that doesn't agree with me. Thankfully it has been at home so far!
