6 months out now

I visited my doctor yesterday and he is pleased with my results over 90lbs down so far hooray. I got some good advice about eating. I was so focused on not overeating until I was under eating. I was very upset a few weeks ago when I went through a halt in weight loss. Well turns out I was not eating enough and I was putting my body into starvation mode. I kept getting advice about overeating or snacking to much and that was not my case. I was advice to get 1,200 calories a day. Well I was averaging between 600 to 900 calories a day.

Mostly because I have really lost my appetite and it's really hard for me to sit down and eat yeah even at six months. I started subbing meals for shakes thinking I was doing the right thing but My Doc told me to stop that if I want to achieve a healthy weight. So now a girl who loved to overeat, could eat all day, is having to force herself to complete a meal. Well for anyone else that this maybe happening to. Don't get so over conscious about food that you don't eat and wonder why the weight is not coming off.

I must say I am much happier and fell so much more confident. This was the best decision I ever made.

Thank you for this post.  I obsess over what I eat.  I only 2 times a day and have been stalled for 2 weeks.  I think it is mostly from not being able to excersice fo to not feeling well for awhile.

But today is a new day and I am going to the gym tonight.

I am so terrified of failing that it scares me everyday.  How do you overcome the fear of failure?

I am trying to increase my food intake but I feel like I'm such a pig and that I am eating to much.
Realisticly I know that my pouch can't hold enough right now to allow me to overeat without being sick.

I'm just scared I won't have the results I want.

Take it one day at a time and remember your greatest goal is for long term success. You are not going to survive very long with only eating twice a day. Plus you will sabotage yourself and not get to where you want to be. I have to force myself to eat three meals usually at night and morning is when I skip.

My dear sister in the battle use all your support resources and talk about your fear once it is out in the open it does not have such a hold on you.

I wish you the most success and write to me anytime.

Congrats on your awesome success. Isn't it funny how we end up going to the opposite extreme of what made us overweight to begin with?!

I know I try and I am trying to fight my fears of regaining the weight. I know it is a very real possibility but I am working on not obsessing.

You look super - congrats. I could only hope to have your results at 6 months!
And thanks for this post. I'm not even one month post-op, but I think I'm having the same problem. I started purees this week, and I just have no interest in eating. My weight loss has slowed dramatically, and I think it's because I'm not getting enough calories. I'll keep trying to force it if it works to get the weight loss sparked up again. I've been exercising regularly, but I also notice the drop in energy since I can't seem to get enough food/fuel in me.
I have to say I'm a little disheartened to hear that you're not interested in eating six months out. I was hoping this would pass. I truly am not avoiding food because I fear it, I just don't have an appetite and my puree generally makes me feel nauseous.
Has anyone else not had an appetite that long out after post-
-op?

Everyone is different but my doctor said it is normal to have a loss of appetite. Just make sure you check in with your Doctor and nutritionist about your diet. I have heard many people hit platueaus all throughout this process so don't get upset when it happens that is easier said than done. I hit one about 4 or 5 weeks out and I think it was just my body adjusting. I was tired very often during the first two months so give yourself sometime.
