things are starting to settle down in the pouch

Finally the little pouch seems to be settling down.  Today started the soft foods.  So far everything is good.  I had a half piece of toast with a smear of peanut butter and 1/4 banana, had one protein shake already too.  All is well so far.  Mixing up my 2nd protein shake as soon as I log off here & will start sipping the vitamin water I have in the frig.

Glad to hear your pouch has settled down for you and you are moving on to soft foods. I have a question, does your surgeons office encourage you to eat the toast? I am only asking, as usually people are much farther out before thier surgeons allow them to start working in the breads and grains. Don't want to see you run into any trouble with those.
Hoping your pouch continues to feel better with each day!

Bread is on the list along with plain crackers, cooked cereal, potatoes, rice, noodles, lowfat pancakes, or waffles.  1/2 slice or 1/4 c per meal as tolerated.  Of course because all of the above are carbs they are the last part of the meal to eat.  Right now I am off dairy because it seemed to be causing some issues.  I have been able to get down the protein shakes mixed w/ soy milk that has bumped up my protein intake by 54 oz and I did have almost 2 very small homemade turkey meatballs as well  So Wednesday was a very good day.

THANKS

Your gonna wanna watch the bread.. it took me awhile before I was brave enough for those.  I still haven't had actual bread. Had some whole wheat wheat thins and cheese for a snack.. seems to be doing ok.

but take it easy on the stuff that swells or balls up when eaten.. pastas and bread are biggies.

My Dr's rules are no Breads, pasta's, cokes, sweets ever      I thought I would miss them a bunch but so far not too bad I just remember the taste and cravings I used to have that is when I grab something I can have.  for my soft foods I wasn't allowed much not even banana or P.Butter but every Dr is different, Cant wait until end of month more foods will be allowed my body feels ready to experiment with new foods     Glad your pouch is feeling better!

Wowwww... your doc is liberal on the carbs! Just a word of caution...if it is white, leave it alone. Use whole grains or whole wheat breads, pasta, etc. and brown rice instead of white. they are much healthier for you and are not so overly processed. A much healthier carb option.
Even now at almost 2 years out, I am very careful not to eat too much of any of these, and rarely do. they were trigger foods for me before surgery and a big weakness of mine, so I try to not indulge too much. So if you find you start to crave them, you may want to stricly limit them. JUST a suggestion from a fairly seasoned wls'er.

You definately had a better day getting the food in. keep up the good work!

Thanks & believe me I have no desire to have the many carbs.  I am focusing on getting in the protein & a little fruit or vegetable.  That's tough enough.  Thanks for the advice.  Truly do appreciate that.
