Bariatric Buddy
Goodafternoon everyone
Hello Bariatric Buddy group. I haven't started a thread for a while, been busy doing life and work. Last weekend was our (Dennis and mine) first weekend off together as a married couple. We worked opposite weekends for the first 2+ years of our marriage until Dennis could switch weekends off. Sooooo, we decided to get out of town and do a trip as a couple. We had a blast, tiring, sleeping in beds other than our own. So nice to be home and settled back in last evening.
Thursday, last week, I mowed off the dandelion field that we call our lawn, then packed our bags to leave home Friday morning. We were packing the suitcase, dog kennel and things needed for a weekend away in the car with snow flakes fluttering down on the newly mowed lawn. Praying for nicer weather at our destination. Our first stop was the Twin Cities - Mpls/St. Paul. about a 3.5 hour drive. We stopped a couple of times for bathroom breaks and to let the dogs out. They made their visits to the grass very brief, still dripping/snowing. Our yorkie does not like to get wet. Miss prissy attitude when it comes to being wet. The pom enjoys puddles, like watching a toddler splash about in a puddle. Tried to keep him dry to minimize the wet dog odor in the car.
We stopped at the science museum to tour the dead sea scrolls exhibit and watch the omnitheater show arabia. Interesting, I expected the scrolls to be larger, the fragments there were broken and smaller, guess the mind can play tricks on us. During the time they were written, paper, animal skin, whatever was used to write on would have been small. Very interesting learning about the history. We spent several hours wandering about the museum. After the museum, we checked into our motel, got settled and phones family that lived in the cities to arrange a visit with my nieces.
We visited our nieces, they are just 11 and 13 years old and full of energy. My 13 year old niece is taller than her mother already, then her dad is 6'2". We went out to dinner and headed back to the hotel for a soak in the hot tub. Tired after the travel and ho****er. The outside temp was cool enough that the stream from the hot tub condensed on the glass ceiling and 'rained' back down on us. Interesting concept, cool mist on our shoulders and hot steam rising from the water. Tried to find a spot where we were not dripped on.
Saturday morning, we met up with a wls coffee group that met in a dog friendly coffee shop. Oscar and Gretta lap hopped and greeted everyone at coffee, they even tried to flirt with people at hearby tables. My pomeranian and yorkie people magnets. It is nice to meet up with fellow wls friends to support each other. Someone there took a photo of the dogs and added it to their facebook page. Famous pooches, lol.
After coffee, we headed out for another 2.5 hour drive to visit my dad. Visited, played cards, went out for supper and spend the night. Mother's day morning, my dad fixed bacon and eggs for us, nice to have someone cook for me. We enjoyed our visit and headed out for the 5.5 hour drive home. Stopped a couple times for walk breaks. The sun was peeking out from between the clouds, nicest day of the weekend. All in all, a good weekend. We were tired when we got home late last evening, great to sleep in our own bed. Today starts another exciting week. I have a birthday later this week. Getting ready to fly to visit a friend next week. Just keeping busy day to day. Hope to visit with several of my buddies at chat this evening. Have a grand afternoon. Looking back to the top of my message, I see that I had another eposide of diarrhea of the fingers, oh well....... Hugs

Sounds like you had a great time Kathy. It's terrible that you had to wait for 2 years to spend a weekend with your husband, but I'm glad you finally got to. Will he be switched now so your schedules match, or is this a one time thing?
Sounds like your dogs had a ball too. My mom's min. dach. is glued to her too - she can't make a move without him. I'll have to start calling him Velcro now. Perfect name for him!
