Bariatric Buddy
Hi I am new on this group
I did not know that OH had groups on here until i saw it on someones page LOL and i have been using Oh for like 4-5 yrs..
I had my RNY in Feb 2007 and i have lost about 200 lbs. Right now i am having probs and might have to have a Revision Surgery.. I have not gotten to my goal and i have started to gain some weight--I am a nervous wreck about this and do not want to be super morbid obese again--I used to weigh 448 lbs and i was in a wheel chair and in rough shape.. i am diabetic and have most of its complications and I am still on insulin and alot of meds.
I am not sure if i should be in this group as it seems that it is for people who have not had their surgery yet or not long ago--But i thought that i could help others if i could answer any questions.
I am not sorry that i had my Gastric Bypass (open RNY)
and it was rough right after surgery--but once i got home from the hospital i did great and managed to lose up to 213 lbs..I am so grateful for all the weight i have lost--but i am not happy that i did not reach my goal of 198--i am tll 5'9 and big boned so that would be a good weight for me..But like i said i did not get close to it--right now i am 57 lbs away from it and i am gaining and if i keep gaining i am gonna push for a Revision surgery..
Well i said enough for now.. Except--I am 47 married for almost 14 yrs and i live in PA and we have 6 Cats..
Yes 6 ! all indoor cats.. Also i am a Born Again Christian and we are members of an Independent Baptist Church.
I am looking forward to getting to know you all..
God Bless and Happy Mothers day to those who are Mothers..
Hugs

do you think you could go back to basics and forgo the surgery or is your stomach stretched out too much? does this just happen because of time or did u get off the smaller portions? not being critical, just curious since i have had to push to eat more. it scares me that i might be getting in a habit i can't break and i will pay for it later. i wouldn't have the surgery done again, i don't think. had too many complications and don't really want to go through all the stuff again. but you never really know until you are in the situation, do you?
i have 1 cat and 3 dogs, all indoor. wow, 6 cats, that is a lot of work. i bet you are a cat lover deluxe. well, welcome once again. let me know if i can ever do anything to help you and i am real glad you found us. we are a very loving group here, no flaming, and i think you will enjoy it. vick
EXPERIENCE WITHOUT REFLECTION IS HOLLOW
Welcome Susie! You are definately NOT in the wrong group. We just for some reason, do not get a lot of people that are farther out. I appreciate having you here!
It is very disappointing and heartbreaking, I know, when goal is not met, especially when regain begins to set in. I am so sorry that you are having to struggle with this aspect. It is definately a possibility for us all to have regain, and its definately a scarey one!
Let me know if there is any way I can help / encourage / support you along the way here. I also look forward to your imput as you have lots of experience in this journey, being so much farther out than most.
Again, welcome to our group, I am glad you found us!

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
I'm sorry you are having problems with regain. I have a friend who is 6 years out and has regained about 1/2 of her weight. She is currently looking into revision also. I also have a cousin who is 7 years out, was having a lot of health problems and gained a lot back. Once her health got straightened out, she was able to re lose what she had gained and is now back at her goal. It just depends on the person and on the cause of the gain, I guess.
I think that is probably the one thing that scares us all the most - the possibitlity of going thru all this and then gaining the weight back. We have been thru so much already with failed weight loss that the fear just seems to loom in the back of your mind. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Post often and let us know how things are going for you.
