OHMY had my 1st good momemt went to small gathering & I totally wasn't expecting the meal thing I just know I had bit of protein drink prior to going in and thought that would be that & when they announced everyone there is food please get a plate & come and sit down we can eat and meet (I thought I'm in trouble) BUT.... I went in line and looked around and got 1 pc of ham & 1 pc of turkey and slice of cheese and a few olives to look nice & 1 slice of pickle and of course 1 cookie (just to blend in) I was so proud of myself I ate slowly tiny bites of ham with cheese chewed I think 50x b4 ea bite (so afraid I would get sick & have to walk out) but much to my suprise all went well I ate only the deli meats & about 3 olives but not the pickle I thought Iwould push my luck, oh I did eat a little bite of cucumber and I wrapped the cookie up and acted fool which i was but not even over full but thats how I wanted it and I accidently took a sip of water and caught myself remembering not to eat & drink at same time, reminding myself I am only 12 days out and should be on soft diet I prayed & all went well. Tonight I over ate I ate rotiserie chicken only small amt but the last bite was to much and I got that yucky feeling like my pouch said what the _ell. I stopped and told myself I am really testing my pouch I need to mellow out it is getting bit harder with control issue but I also have been stressed and I am a stress eater, I hate getting sick that is one of reasons I almost didn't get this surgery it feels like I am dying when I throw up so lesson learned I am eating to quickly and really have to slow down and eat more of the soft diet like ordered. Sorry for the book but had to share my experience today. Thx for listening. Better days ahead! ps my clothes are getting way to big that is a WOW thing Correction I am now 12 days out from WLS not 10 days & still having problems with my Tracker its there but duplicate ? will work on that this wknd :0)

Don't be hard on yourself, just go back to the soft stuff.  I am only 4 days out and other than a popsicle have done nothing but drink liquids, take my vitamins and drink water.  I truly don't want anything else.  Have no idea what I weigh, have decided not to get on the scale until I go to my 1 week follow-up at the Dr.s next Wednesday.

Feeling a little better today, still having major gas pain and the most pain is on my left side.  but if I hold that side firmly wheN I want to couogh it helps.

Biggest WOW of the week so far, after surviving the surgery was selling our house in three days.
I am still trying to get my head around that and now we will meet with uour builder next week.
Have a great day.
Janet

hang in there and try to get back on the diet your doc wants you on.  you can do it.  does he consider deli meat part of a soft diet?  mine didn't. you sure don't want to push that it can do damage to your stomach.   i would wait  to eat stuff like that until you find out for sure.   good luck to you, my friend.  vick

No  I should not that is why I was so afraid i would get sick but the Lord was on my side as I sat and ate tiny bites slowly.  I am only on soft diet & tuna & cheese, scrambled egg & beans ok too along with my liquids still and alot of water which i do. I knew I had to come on this board to confess and learn and be reminded what not to do or else..... Thanks Vick!  I am back to my diet now and so much better mentally and physically :0)

All in all very good choices, (except never put the cookie on to look good.. can be too tempting later on!) The choices were wonderful, except that they are a little advanced for where yu are in your food consistancy. I remember early out, when I'd eat, be be in the middle of a bite, and get that..OH OH I am too full  feeling, and i would literally spit the bite I was chewing out into a napkin. Eating slower does for sure help avoid the overfill.

YEAY on the looser clothes! let us know what you lost when you go to your appt!
Thanks for sharing!
Hugs!

your totally right with the choices thx for your input, I was able to do that because I don't like the cookie like I LOVE cake which I said no thanks to as it was passed around, I was blessed that I didn't have any side effects. I had my 1 wk appt last Tues and was total 17 lbs loss but 11 since surgery date on 4-26-10.  I love this board thx so much for your input I need to be reminded my stomach is still baby one and we wouldn't feed that to our babies :0)    Have a great wknd!

Exactly! You are gonna do great with this. Just a LOT tolearn about new choices, and how our new tummy will handle things. Do yourself a HUGE favor and believe for a very long time you willl dump from sugars. Don't push by trying when you think you are out of the woods on that part! thats when things get really tough. You have a long time on that, but try to keep this in mind as times goes on. This is something i think a lot of wls patients wish they had done... just believe they will always dump..lol.

Ya know, you really can eat many different things, just puree them. But it won't be long now until you do graduate to the solids. This can be a time of happiness to be eating real foods again, but also can prove a challenge as you learn what your new tummy does and does not tolorate, and this can change over time too. Its a wold and crazy journey sometimes!
Keep up the great attitude and the great work!

Thank you for your word of advice, this is exactly what I learned in class but sometimes we forget.  Exactly what they said re: sweets, breads etc.  thx for keeping me on track,  what i have been doing I got the topic in receipe's and copied / pasted into a receipe file on my computer and when time comes I will have many new receipes I love that area on new receipe's couldn't believe all i seen, I thought this may not be so bad its just a control think we have to change with ourselves.  I am looking at this as a new life for me :0)     PS Happy Mothers day to you!
