Bariatric Buddy
Sometimes I wonder what happens...
to people post-op. Have you too found for yourself that you have made friends with people on OH and then post-op you don't hear from them? I have several people that have not updated their pages or emailed in months and months. It's just strange to me because as a pre-op I had great support from some people and they would email regularly...then post-op they just drop off. I know that we get caught up in our new lives and we don't have a lot of time to post but I do feel concerned for them, especially the ones that were experiencing issues/problems.
I also wanted to let you know that I don't get to make it to the chat but I do appreciate this group. You guys have given me so much support, encouragement and advice. Thank you for all you have done and thanks for starting this group. I look forward to keeping up with everyone.
I am a human battling a food addiction. I have my good days (eating correctly) and then I have my bad days (indulged in some sweets). My focus is to remain aware of my behavior and try to make better choices in the future. I want this to be a lifetime commitment for me and to make this as my new lifestyle of healthier living. My life's focus is high-protein/low carb and to control my sweets. I want to succeed for life.
Hugs to everyone,
Susan
You have been doing great Susan, I look to your success as inspiration for my own efforts. We all have our demons to tackly and it is food issues for most of us. Continue to do your best. Hugs

I love to come here and I do try to read if not daily, then every other day. I don't get to post as often as I should but the support and information that I do receive is amazing. I agree with you and I hope that those whom we dont hear from do get the support that they need. In particular I have to stay focused on my journey, not only with wls but my personal life too (since that is on shaky ground).
Thanks for your comment on my success thus far. I do try my best but at times I do let myself down by indulging in those un-healthy food items. It still happens when I am in an emotional situation. I want to gain control over that and stop that behaviour. Tackling the food demon is hard but I do believe that it can be done.
You have so many words of wisdom and great advice that you share. You are too an inspiration to me. Hugs to you and keep up the good work.
Susan
I'm not able to come nearly as much as I'd like, but the advice and support here are what keeps me going. All the months of research I did here and other sites before surgery prepared me as well as you can be prepared for WLS and I am truly thankful that this site exists and there are so many people willing to share their journies.
I hope that those who go AWOL after surgery are doing fine and just get busy with their new lives. Maybe you'll hear from some eventually.
I think you definitely have what it takes to succeed for life and you will be just fine. We just have to try to stay on track and get right back up whenever we stumble!
Good to hear from you and I wish you the all the best and success in your journey.
God bless,
Susan
We will probably have to always focus harder than naturally thin people on our food habits and choices. We have years of history with it, mostly bad history. Takes a lot of work and effort to break through this.
Sometimes we have to focus on just doing the next right thing. When we go astray, we can't give ouselves permission to continue on this path until tomorrow.. we have to accept it, and move on to a better choice next time, without beating ourselves up. We are as you say, only human!
Keep up the great work!
Yes i do notice the same as you do. Many just disappear after surgery. We have many members that used to come here and i haven't heard from in a very long time, and I think of them all often, and wonder how they are. I have learned that everyone will make thier own choices as far as support, and hope that if ever we are needed they will find thier way back.
