Soy Chips

Hi Everyone!  I have a question for you.  I am still struggling to get all my protein in and am attempting to get my protein mostly from real food plus one protein shake a day.  Most times I do it but sometimes I am a little shy.  So, I am looking for all the protein sources I can, especially ones that are a little novel as I am getting bored with some of the food I am regularly eating.  Along with that, I am starting to get urges (I am trying not to think of them as cravings! LOL!!) for some of the old foods...especially crunchy-salty carbs.  I haven't given into any of them yet and am feeling good about warding off the urges.

Recently, I stumbled onto Soy Chips and wondered what you all thought.  I have a hard time finding them here in my rural community, but I did see an add here on OH for Revival Baked Soy Protein Chips, and while they are somewhat expensive, I ordered the variety pack.  I really like that they come in individually bagged servings and find them to be a once-a-day real treat that squashes my crunchy-salty cravings and gives me more protein.

Here's the breakdown nutritionally:  7 g. protein, 1 g. fat, 12 g carbs (0 sugar, 0 fiber), 120 mg. sodium.  80 calories per 25 g. packet with 5 calories from fat.

My questions:

1.  What do you all think about soy chips as a good thing for us to be eating and what have you heard?

2.  Any other suggestions for products that might not be as expensive as the Revival chips??

Thanks in advance!!  :)

Hi Guayas, is having a chip going to lead to other cravings.  I know there are high protein snack type things out there.  Haven't investigated them myself.  I find that I am craving a sweet/salty snack from time to time and need some crunch with this snack.  I found that taking plain greek yogurt, adding 1/2 of a stick of crystal light type powder (current fav is made by ocean spray - cran/peach) and adding a few sunflower seeds or soy nuts for crunch.  This takes me a while to chew and really does satisfy.

Stats for dannon greek yogurt 5.3 oz container:  80 calories, no fat, 10 mg cholesterol, 50 mg sodium, carbs 6 grams, protein 15 grams.

Stats for roasted and salted soy nuts 1/4 cup: 130 calories, 7 grams fat, no cholesterol, 90 mg sodium, 9 grams carb, 5 grams fiber, 10 grams protein.  I don't think I add 1/4 cup, probably more like 1/8 cup.  I had to go measure the serving I use, the palm of my hand and it is 1/8 cup.  Go figure.  Hope this helps.
