Hello to all of you.  I am new to the site and still awaiting my surgery.  I am going to have the RNY hopefully everything will be completed by the end of June or first of July. Have been considering wls for years by could not work up the courage till now. In late October just after my 50th birthday I had a scare with my heart and it caused me to make some serious decisions. I also started to see a counselor at that time because I know I don't just eat when I am hungry, food is a comfort mechanism for me.  Hopefully, all this time will help get my head on straight.
I am single and live alone. I have a daughter who is pregnant with my first grandchild.  She has found out it is going to be a girl.   I know she and her husband were hoping for a boy first but I'm tickled.  I work graveyards at a Hospital here in Ft Worth, TX.  I am an RN on a busy med/surg floor where we specialize in bariatric surgery.  You would think I know a lot about it right?  Wrong!  Am finding out how little I know all the time.
Sorry this post is kind of long.  Thanks to everyone in advance for your help and support.

Hi Amber, there are many in health care on the bariatric buddy site. I work night shift too, RN in OB/Ped unit. I have a strong family history of obesity, life long in my case. I wish I had had the RNY 20 years ago, but did have it almost 8 months ago. So glad that I did. Knowing the right things is easy, practing them a completely different story.

Congratulations on making this great decision for your health, and on your upcoming granddaughter. Let me know when you get a surgery date and I will add you to the list for that week of surgeries. In the meantime, hope to get to know you better. Post often, this is a great place for positive support. I use the group for my day to day support needs, getting so much more than I feel like I give each day. Gaining some great friends to share the weightloss journey with. Your post is short compared to some of my episodes of diarrhea of the thoughts expressed by my fingers on the keyboard. Hugs
