I am so confused on these vitamins and supplements I have to take. I have looked in several stores but I am such a nitwit when it comes to nasty tastes that I am afraid to buy any...lol

According to my surgery handbook I need Chewable Multivitamin ( I got centrum chewables but don't really like the taste so if anyone has a better suggestion),
Chewable Calcium supplement
Sublingual Vitamin B12

Any suggestions to which flavors/brands are the best.

Thanks
Davina

I found gummy vitamins that seem to desolve quickly and they taste good. They are made by vitafusion and they are called Multi Vites Gummy vitamins for adults. Good luck in your search.

It is best to use a baruatric specific vitamin supplement. Unless you have lapband, you just won't get as much as you need with other chewables, especially childrens chewables.
I use Building blocks bariatric vitamins. The great thing with these is they offer a chewable, liquid or capsule form. These are specially formulated for our needs with the propper amounts of everything. I like the fruit flavors in the multi and calcium and iron. You can visit the website for information on them and you can request free samples as well. I have tried many different bariatric vitamins, and these taste best and have the most pleasant texture to me (chewables).

PLEASE remember do not take calcium and iron within 2 hours of each other. They bind and prevent each other from being absorbed.

Thanks Patrece, I'll pop by my doc's office this afternoon to see if they have any of them in stock Should I start taking the Calcium and Iron now or after the surgery??

RNY on 02/09/10 with
I would call your doctor and ask when to start taking your supplements. My doctor has you wait until you're 2 weeks post-op.

Also, make sure your calcium is calcium citrate, and not calcium carbonate. There's a difference in how your body absorbs them.

And yes, I would recommend a bariatric-specific formula. Most you have to order online, but it's so worth it, because it's your health at stake,.
