Embarassing Moment Today

-- but it was also a WOW moment, I guess.

I joined a Water Aerobics class at the Y way back about the time that I started the journey for having my WLS.  So everyone there has seen me at my highest weight and has encouraged me throughout the process.  Every week, someone asks me how much I've lost and I've been getting more and more compliments.

HOWEVER -- today, I went early to do the wall exercises before class started because I needed to get back home for three back to back web conferences at work.  When I came out of the dressing room with my clothes on to leave, every one on the side of the pool where I walked out was "woohoo'ing" at me as I left.  I was so embarrassed, but WOWed at the same time.  I probably turned 15 shades of red and purple.

Has anyone had something similar happen to them??  How did you handle it??  I was laughing, but covered my face with my towel because I was so embarrassed.

Get used to accepting compliments... you will get many along the way.. and you deserve each and everyone. We are funny.. we do not feel right when the attention (especially positive) is focused on us. Its kinda foreign to us.. BUT we need to learn to embrace it and believe in it..AND it gets a little easier with time... lol. I can see your pink face now!..lol Me, being the smarty I can tend to be, probably would have taken a bow to pretend I could handle it..lol

I sometimes get something similar at work, dressed in baggy scrubs, I could hide a lot of the loss. come out of the locker room in fitted clothes and co-workers comment on how good I look. It does get a little easier to accept a compliment. Smile and say thank you to your peers. Hugs
