getting better
I am starting to feel a lot better. I am 6 weeks out and I do daily exercise in my home and go walking at the park every other day or so. I am still having trouble getting all the fluids I need but I am trying. My emotions have been so crazy lately but my family doctor has put me on Prozac and it helps a lot. My emotions are getting better now. I can finally do more workouts with my abdomen. I went walking today and I noticed how much better I feel compared to before surgery. I do not get winded anymore. So far I have had no other physical complications and I haven't had any foods that I cannot tolerate. My evening snack is 1/2 of a banana and 1 tbs. of peanut butter. This is a great snack that has a lot of protein in it if you can handle peanut butter. I eat a lot of eggs, chicken and pork. I haven't tried beef yet, I am waiting to see the surgeon again in 2 weeks and ask him before I try it. I know exactly what happens if you eat to fast or over eat. I have vomited both times. My surgeon said that because I can vomit, I should not have as many episodes of "dumping" as most people. My mother, for example, she cannot vomit since her surgery and she has dumping a lot. I have not gotten anything stuck and I am doing all I can to avoid that. I have started to notice some of my clothes getting bigger on me. I started out at 361 and I am currently at 270 and I am only 6 weeks post op. It is hard to find anything that has no sugar in it but I have found that I can have up to 11g of sugar and not get sick. I still do all I can to get as little sugar as possible. I do have a lot of heartburn now but tums really work for me and give me a lot of calcium. Anyways, I just wanted to update everyone about how I am coming along. It has been really hard but I would do it all over again if I had to. Thank you all for being there and offering your support. I am very thankful!!
Great Job!!
Keep up the great work. I was prescribed Prilosec when I left the hospital. I don't know if it works, but I have not had any heartburn, so it must.
I also am working out daily. The Bariatric Dept has partnered with cardiac rehab dept and I can use the same facilities and rehab specialists to help my workout program. I get at least anhour of exercise per day and will be adding strength training now that I am 6 weeks out (3/3/10 surgery).

It sounds like you're doing great! Those first couple of months can be tough but it will get easier and better everyday. I didn't feel human until I was almost 4 months out. I do occasionally vomit and maybe that is why I don't experience dumping. I still try to stay away from sugar.
You just keep doing what you are doing, follow your program and you will be fine!

Hi Amanda, good to see you back. Congrats on the great loss. Soon time to pick a couple of things up so you don't have your slacks fall off. No fair mooning everyone, unless you decide to post it online too.
Nice to get something to stabilize the moods, exercise helps too, sounds like you are off to a great start so far. Are you taking calcium citrate for your calcium supplements? The tums are calcium carbonate and we do not absorb that very well after RNY. We want you to stay healthy as you shrink away.
Keep up the good work. Attitude does a lot of good for us. Hugs
