1 week post op!!!
I just had my surgery on 3/31/2010, and sometimes I feel like I can barely get down the liquids. I know I need them but sometimes It's gets boring doing the same old thing over and over again. I still have 2 weeks to go. It's hard watching people eat around you and knowing you can't have what they are eating. I cry all the time because I feel like I will not be able to eat again... just liquids.... My family does not even eat around me... When they get ready to have dinner, I go in my bedroom until they finish eating...Is that crazy or what? help me please!!!!
Kisa, your hormones are in an uproar since surgery. Your body is discovering that you have stopped the constant intake of food and it has discovered "starvation", oh my. I am sending you something to read on hormones. The crying goes hand in hand with the changes you are going through.
During my pre op peroid, I would prepare food for my hubby and go for a dog walk while he ate. Reappearing at home after the food was gone.
Welcome to the losing side of surgery, it will be quite a ride. Do your best to get in all your fluids, supplements and protein and your outlook on the world will improve. Come back to share often, it does help to write things down. Hugs

Kissa don't despair, please! You are still at the very beginnng of your journey. I was in the hospital with NOTHING to eat or drink for 1 week after my surgery and it took another week before I could swallow anything more complicated than clear broth. On the 3rd week I was allowed Jello - oh joy! LOL
It may look like a long and difficult haul now but believe me, this too will pass and befre you know it you WILL be able to eat solid foods again. You just had major surgery. Give your stomach a chance to heal and stay positive! You did a wonderful thing for yourself and we are all here to help you get through the bumps.

Hey Kissa, Sorry I am so late in my reply. Have had much to deal with today.
Hang in there honey and take a deep cleansing breath. Ahhh Really.. do this. Now, Try to focus on the fact that you are beginning this journey that you so badly wanted and needed for your health. The hardest part of any journey is getting ready and the first little while of it. Then things start to get a sense of normalcy, or at least a sense of direction starting, same with this one. Remind yourself it won't be long now, until you will be eating food, chewing food, and enjoying your new healthy choices. Just think how much these liquids are going to make your new healthy foods seem like a gormet treat! I know this is very hard for you right now. And i do feel for you. But please try to just hang in there knowing your body is going to thank you for all of this sacrifice and effort and you are going to feel sooooo good when you are halthy and at a lower weight.
Here's a hug for you ((((KISSA)))) I am sending thoughts and feelings of comfort and calming your way. Vent here every time it gets to you, if need be. Thats why we are here. Let us help you through this.

Kisa, you are not alone girl! I just had my surgery on 4/6 and am on liquids too. I just keep reminding myself that this two week period is nothing compared to how good I feel the rest of my life ! I swear the food and restaurant commercials on TV are out to get me too. LOL! I don't tell myself never, I just tell my self not right now and someday in moderation.
You CAN do this!!

Believe me I know how you feel. I am finally 6 weeks out and the first three weeks were really bad for me. My family doctor put me on Prozac and that has helped a lot. I am still having trouble getting all the liquid required but my surgeon said just take it easy. It will come in time. I am starting to tolerate some solid foods but chewed very well. Hang in there. It does get better.
