Hello everyone and thank you Kathy for the warm welcome!

I have been looking at WLS since 2005 and am finally getting the surgery this month!  I am still very nervous of the surgery itself and still a bit worried about the recovery.  However, so many people are pleased with the VSG that I can't help but feel confident I am making a good decision in the long run.

I am 39 years old with a BMI of 58.4.  As a teenager I loved horseback riding, swimming, snow skiiing, scuba diving and being outdoors.   That is one of the things I look most forward to when I am healthier.  I  can't do one set of stairs now without huffing and puffing.   I have been terribly embarrassed and shameful about my wieght for years now.  I wont even go to the YMCA to do swimming anymore.  Oh, and another thing I look foward to is being able to shop at regular department stores and wear cute clothes :)

I am looking foward to hearing from everyone who is farther along on their journey!

You are most welcome WhisperCat.  What is your first name?  I am looking forward to welcoming you to the loser's bench.  Is there anything we can do, questions to address in the meantime?

I am so happy with the loss and now working day to day to keep my new healthy habits.  Please feel free to come share as often as you can.  The group support has been such a help for me.  Hugs

Hello and welcome. I'm just 9 weeks post op and am very happy with my decision. I already feel and look so much better than I did. Is it easy? No way, it's been a huge adjustment with a few hiccups along the way, but it is totally worth it! Good luck to you, and I always feel people who have done there research and know what to expect fare much better than those who aren't really prepared!

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference...
