Hey all. I hope you are all having a great day! Hope you are not getting pranked too badly!

We are laying low on the "funnies" around here today. Our White German Shepard Crystal, is really sick. She had a couple of days, where she was not eating well, and gaggy. and breathing a little oddly.  had her checked out by a vet, He felt she had an inflammatory thing going on in her upper respiratory area, gave her a steroid shot. The remainder of that day she seemed to do better. breathing eased up gagging stopped. (Tuesday) Then yesterday (wed) in the late late evening, she started cating very oddly with her breathing, extending her neck as far as she could and pointing her nose upward, her beaths sounded strained. Took her back to the vet, and was there until 2:10 am. Seems the steroids did thier job in ridding her of the inlammation, but that resulted in whatever else was going on getting reallyyyyyy bad. In addition to her odd beathing, her heart was racing so bad, the vet feard she would have a heart attack. So he gave her a mild tranqualizer to calm her, and within 15 minutes her breathing and heart eased up. she had a fever. he gave her an antibiotic injection as well, and also some lasix, just in case she was holding fluids in her lungs.  Was a very scarey thing.
Waiting for blood test results now. she was not happy to see the vet again today.

She is our baby... our dogs are more like kids than dogs and crystal is a sweet and gentle dog,

Please  keep her in your thoughts / prayers or both, that she gets better very very soon. she's only 6 1/2 or so and we are not ready to lose this girl.

Patrece so sorry to hear this news. I know just like you how we feel about our dogs, yes they are the children. Poor baby  and you guys too the stress and emotions and lack of sleep, along with what is wrong and going on. Definitely with the strecthing the neck she is having difficulty breathing and keeping the airway open.

Please keep me posted, my prayers are with you all and Crystal. She is young and hopefully will rebound with her young age, thinking of you and I know we are never ready to lose them anytime.
hugs, mk

Thanks everyone, very much! Your support and encouragement is much appreciated!

crystal is doing quite a bit better this morning. We got her to eat finally yesterday, by fixing her some scrambled eggs (although the day before and yesterday morning, she wouldn't touch anything no matter how much she liked it)  Then in the evening my husband made a cheeseburger and crumbled it and putting the grease from it into her food .  I was a little nervous about that, feared the grease may make her momit again, but it all set well.
Still not totally up to par, but she is getting there! I am soooo relieved! Now just have to keep fooling her into taking her antibioti****il they are gone..

Thanks again for all parayers, well wishes, and caring.

It can really get scary and they are just like kids to us.  I am so glad to hear that she is improving so much and on the road to recovery. I pray that she continues to get completely well.  I hope that you and your family have a very Happy Easter!!
