I used to take Ibuprofen for aches and pains (significant some days) Tylenol doesn't work too well for me. Any suggestions if we shouldn't take NSAIDs?

Prior to surgery I was taking Darvocet N-100 but due to malabsorbtion, they no longer work.  Then got switched to Tylenol 3 which didn't do anything for me either.  I have arthritis, 2 buldging discs and 2 ruptured discs in my neck and the only thing that works for me is Lortab Liquid which is liquid Vicodin.  Not thrilled about being dependent on a narcotic but as far as I'm concerned that is better than the pain.

Good luck, I hope you can find something you can live with soon.

There are other pain meds that won't affect the stomach.  I use ultram only rarely for aches that tylenol doesn't help.  Some surgeon's will have other suggestions, talk with your MD for options.  Hope your pain eases.  Do you do water therapy, the bouyancy of the water makes less stress on the joints, warm water may help ease the pains too.  Even try a few visits to the physical therapy dept to see if there are any exercises that could ease your discomforts.

i use hydrocodone in the pill form, but i have been out quite a while.  doesn't always work but usually at least helps. i also usse these patches called flector patch.  it is by presciption only.  i use it on my knees, but u can use it other places. they also have a cream.  ask your doc about it.i know it is a pain to hurt all the time.  i wish my knees (both have knee replacements) would quit hurting.  don't think it is going to happen anytime soon though.  hang in there. vick

Have you tried liquid tylenol?  That is what the dr. gave me for pain when I left the hospital.  Of course, mine had codeine in it, but maybe for those times when the pain is worse, that may help.  Also, you may want to go to the main discussion board and post.

I am sure you will get lots of responses.  Good luck, I hope you find something that works!
