after surgery
Hi Gilda, I understand the being nervous before surgery. Things that you will need after surgery include your supplements, a variety of protein sources. Your surgeon's office will provide you with the written list of foods for initial recovery. Have a variety of small packets of a variety of protein supplements to try. You tastes may be different after surgery, things that you like now may no longer taste good to you. Sugar free popsicles, jello, broth, sugar free puddings, possibly some sugar free carnation instant breakfast.
Be sure to pack a lip balm to go with you to the hospital, There are other things, just not present at the tip of my fingertips right now. Others will fill in the gaps.

Congratulations Gilda on your decision!!
I am about 3 weeks out of surgery. In the hospital, I can only say bring comfortable clothes for walking. Also, if your dr provides a bariatric surgery book, take that also.
At home, I made sure I had the things I would eat. I planned my menu out before I went tot he hospital so I would not have to make decisions when I wasn't 100%.
Most of all keep in touch with others that have gone through, like this group. They will encourage you and give you tips.
You will do great!!! We look forward to hearing about your new life!!!

Hi - I bought a small blender - like a Bullet but much cheaper and use it every day to make my shakes and am sure I will use it with purees etc - it cost about £15 from Amazon in the UK.
I also bought a set of tiny pots (baby size) which I use to pre measure out my liquids each day so I can grab something quick from the fridge and know it's what I'm meant to be drinking - I'm on full liquids for 4 weeks post op. See my pics for info.
None of this is essential, but I'm finding it really useful.

Lots of good advice. Just prepare as much in advance as possible because early out you may feel a bit lost. It takes a while to get in the groove of the new lifestyle.
Congrats again!

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
One thing that wasn't mentioned that helped me ...
I had all of my supplements and meds sorted into a two-week pill container so that I could just grab them without thinking. It also helped me to know that I got them all in!
Wishing you all of the very best and looking forward to hearing of your successes!
