I need to have some help please...I am scheduled for plastic surgery next month and I understand you burn a lot of calories in the healing process...my problem is I do not need to lose any more weight and am finding it diffiicult to stop the weight loss, don't hate me please, what I need to know is, is there a protein powder that is high calories that I can take for a week or two prior to surgery and about a month or so after surgery...I have been looking in the vitamin shoppe and online but to get high calories...you need to put like 4 scoops of their powder in the drink, might as well stick to my powder at 200 calories a scoop...can anyone please help me, I know this is a strange request on a weight loss group but my roomie got me scared this morning, he said if you burn 4000 calories a day in the healing process you are going to end a corpse in mexico...pleae help...

i can relat char.  i have had plastic surgery and i lost some weight but not a whole bunch.  i also know how it feels to post on here about being too skinny. i almost feel guilty when i do, but this is our cross to bear from our wls journey and others can relate. not many, but some. so keep posting stuff like this.

i think a lot of the muscle milk is high in calories. also go to
a1supplements.com and you will find a wide assortment with the nutritional content and everything. this will give you an idea of what you need to look for in the stores. go to a gym and see if they have a shop or if they can recommend a body building powder or a store who has some. i have found body building stuff in my local united store. walmart should even have some.  i do know that a lot of the muscle milk is high in calories, just read before you buy.  also, eat a lot of peanut butter. that is what my doc recommended.  it is high in calories and also in protein.  it is good for you.  he also recommended eating avacadoes. they have stuff that is good for your heart and is high in calories. i have started eating all sorts of stuff just to keep from losing. i don't dump on anything except dried meat. i have made no bake cookies. hi in protein and stuff that is good for you, peanut butter, oats, pecans (put them in)  but also if you use the butter and sugar, in stead of splenda/sugar mix,  if you want the recipe, pm me and i will give it to you.

you are not alone in this. i am in the same boat.  i will put in a friend request so be watching for it. good luck to you.

hugs, vick

thank you vickie! I have looked in vitamin shoppe this morning...but the problem with the "weight gain" powder is you have to use like 4 scoops of the powder...might as well use the powder I have now..LOL

will check out muscle milk though and see what I can find...I do feel a bit guilty posting about losing too much weight but even my WL surgeon the last time, told me, enough was enough...and I truly am not trying to lose weight any more...but it still comes off...sure not as fast as it did but dont have much more I can lose before being underweight...I know, I know...sounds like a non problem but I dont want to be underweight....

FIRST a message to both you and Vick! DO NOT feel guilty about posting that you have lost too much weight. While some may be envious because they never got to where they wanted to, what you two face is a real problem for you two, and should be shared here. This isn't something that happens all the time, but it does happen and is a real problem and you deserve support and encouragement as much as any others do!

My advice here is this: Instead of looking to change your protein supplement, stay with the one you use and like. BUT in addition to this, I would suggest you buy some ENSURE, or the generic equivalent (much cheaper)  Use the ensure between protein supp's and meals. It i a high calorie and very nutritious drink. Or consider using carnation instant breakfast, adding a bit more milk to it (1/2 cup or so) then mixing your protein into that. I would do this twice a day at least.

What I do want to caution you on is this...do not turn to high calorie fat packed sugar laden foods to help you through this. If you do this, you are resetting your tastes to want all the stuff that got you to be obese. So please use caution to use only healthy forms of extra calories and such.

Hope this helps you!

thank you patrece....I have been considering the ensure stuff....see what my problem was preop, I was a volume eater, like eating a huge bowl of rice and chicken with a gob of butter but the sleeve stopped that...and now that I can't eat huge quantities...I am having a difficult time with getting enough calories in...never was a huge carb eater per se...except for my pepsi which I haven't had any of since before surgery...

Probably the best thing to do here is to break it up into 2 seperate servings, or sip at it over the course of an hour or two. You do not want to force volume, as that will stretch you out and you don't want that for sure!

best of luck girl!
