Having a bad day

I don't like to whine but I'm going to indulge in it today.  Work had another food day...lasagna bake off to be precise.  I'm 6 months out and can't tolerate pasta very well and feel very left out.  I got asked why I didn't have any lasagna and I said because I can't eat it.  I got stared at and frankly am just tired of being stared at.

We just had our quarterly "Potluck" for our dept. today.  I am two weeks post surgery and I still had a hard time.  I wanted so much to eat what they ate, but could not.  For me, part of it is still my old way of thinking.  I at compulsively alot and now I have to control that.

I know how you feel.  You are not whining.  Keep up the great work!  Look at the weight loss you have had and visualize what you will have.  It will keep getting better!!

Hey, don't worry! I tried to eat some whole wheat spaghetti and meat sauce my family had for dinner tonight too and couldn't swallow more than 2 small bites and right now it's sitting in my stomach like a rock. I'd have to turn down the lasagna too.
Would these people be staring you if you had always been a thin person who said that you couldn't eat the lasagna? Maybe, but probably not. Would you mind that they stared at you if you had always been thin? Maybe, but probably not.
What I'm saying is, don't give in to your insecurities. Now...You can get mad at them, or you can ignore them and go on doing what you know you have to do to reach your goal! I recommend the second.

Maybe in the future it would just be easier to say, I don't care for it, or It doesn't agree with me. Maybe you should talk to the person who organizes this food day and ask about having some that focus on healthy low fat foods?

You are not whining.. it is hard to be put in this situation. We are here to listen! I commend you on your progress and good choices!

I am glad you felt safe to come share with us.  I use the "my stomach isn't up to that today" when I need an out.  When faced with potluck, I try to make something that I can eat and others will probably not realize that is wls friendly.
