Taking the good with the bad

Hello everybody and Happy St. Paddy's Day!  A quick story about my dad.  One year, I went to see Alice Cooper on March 16 and you never, EVER go to a concert and not wear the shirt you bought to school the next day. World War III broke out that morning because I was going wear my black Alice Cooper shirt to school on Saint Patrick's Day instead of wearing something green.  My dad won out and I was miserable for the day.  I always think of that on St. Patrick's Day and have a good laugh about it.  Dad's been gone many years now, but I still make sure I wear green on March 17th just in case he's still keeping track!  LOL!

I got the call this morning; my bike was in, assembled and ready for me to ramble down the road on.  My mom gave me a ride up there and I rode back.  It's about a mile and half.  I do about 7 miles in 20 minutes on the cycle at the gym and I don't know what the difference is, but I assume it has to do with the level of resistance on a stationary bike as opposed to a regular bike.  Anyway, I worked up a little sweat so I assumed I burned some calories.

That's the good news.  The not so good news is that the exertion sets off the dizziness.  I was fine as long as I was riding, but when I got off the bike, I almost fell over.  I'm hoping that if I get in some sort of exercise everyday and become a little stronger the imbalance brought on by exercise will lessen. In the meantime, I will sit on the bike for a minute or two before I get off.  I may not be able to work again, at least that is what my doctor is telling me but I'll be d*mned if I'm gonna sit and watch life pass me by.

I have been at a plateau for almost 3 weeks now.  I call it a plateau; I gained three pounds, lost it, and then sat there at 209 for 2 weeks.  I weighed in this morning at 208.8  I'LL TAKE IT!

Mom and I will up and out by 6:45 in the AM.  My hubby is sending us on a one day trip to the casino in Mt. Pleasant.  I'm not holding my breath about coming home a gozillionaire, but it would be nice not to come back penniless.  I'm trying not to think about the buffet to end all buffet's that they have there.  I believe they have as much food out as they do on a cruise ship and I've always heard that people tend to gain a lot of weight on a cruise.  I will make the best possible choices I can.

Okay, that's all the yammering I'm going to do today.  I hope you all have a good one.

Yeayyyyy on the bike coming in... yep it definately sounds like you will need to sit there and rest for a fw before attempting to get off of it. It's a great workout riding huh?
Plateau busted! It will start coming down again.. I hit plateaus once a month every single month and after 4 months out, I lost one week out of the month and that was it.. But I got here!

Enjoy your outting with your mother! Eat wisely... you want that scale going down down down! lol.

I am off for a nap. Was after 3:30 am before I fell asleep, and had to get up and take my hubby to class.. I am sooooo tired!

Happy St. Patricks Day Colleen.  Great that your trike is here, you have the right idea to let your blood adjust and sit on it for a couple minutes before standing.  Does you MD have you wearing support hose to keep more blood in the upper part of your body, ie brain?

I wore my green at work last night, then I wear green (teal) each and every night as that is the color or the scrubs for our unit.

Make more money than calories you consume at the casino.  I was at a buffet the other day, amazing the variety and made high protein choices.  I had a taco salad with a little lettuce, cheese and a heap (small one) of taco meat.  Dressed it with a couple chunks of tomato and nummmmm.  Skipped the chips and didn't even miss them.

Congratulations on getting your trike. Sounds like you'll have a lot of fun, just make sure you sit for a few minutes after riding before getting off. Have fun at the casino, buffets usually have some good choices if you can avoid all the temptations.
