Oh kathy.....thanks so much. I will definately hang in and be on this Bariatric Buddy site as often as humanly possible. It is so wonderful to realize and hear that I am not alone. I know it sounds silly for someone to think they are alone in something, but I was feeling isolated. Now I am feeling like there is help for me here and not so alone.

Hugs to you too!

I am about 4.5 months out and have been experiencing hunger.  Last week I was diagnosed with ADD and the drug that is used to treat this is not only working for the ADD but because it is in the amphetamine family, I have lost my appetite.  That medication is probably the only thing that is keeping me from eating everything in sight.  My appetite started to return about a month ago.  It's going to come back no matter what, it just comes back a different times for different people.

This is one more good reason to stick close to this group.  You will find so much support here. We are also experiencing the same things to one degree or another and what a blessing it is not to have to do this alone.

Thanks so much Colleen! I am quickly learning that this site is awesome and that the feelings of isolation and loneliness are slowly lessening. Finding this site is like finally getting a drink of water after being lost in the desert.

Hi Bonnie and Kim. I am only 6 weeks out and still have to make myself eat most of the time. But like you, I am a food addict and I know that my appetite will return and I worry sometimes that I will gain back whatever I lose. I am working hard to retrain myself when it comes to food - instead of using it as my drug of choice when I'm having emotions I don't know how to deal with, I am trying to "face" those emotions, really feel them and understand what and why I am feeling, rather than stuffing them down with food. Since I am unable to stuff down much of anything right now, I am trying to put this time to good use. I think it's also important for you to realize how far you have come, all the changes that have occurred in your life, and how proud you should be of what you have accomplished! For any one who says WLS is the easy way out - they are clueless IMO. So give yourself credit and celebrate your success so far.

As for support groups, I think OH is great and especially bariatric buddies. You'll find so much support and encouragement here as well as people who have "been there, done that" and made it thru. Post often and get to know people. Support others with your experience and you'll be amazed at how much it all helps in dealing with weight, and everything else that might be going on in your life.

Take care,
Rhonda

Hi Rhonda:

Thank you so much for the excellent support posting! You are so right and it seems too simple since I should have known everything you said already! :) Why is it so easy to NOT SEE what is so obvious about ourselves!?

When I read your posting, all the past 9 months came rolling back into my memory and gosh have I come a long way. Now if I can just stop craving and using foods that "stuff my emotions!".  Reading it posted here in your wonderful words gives me hope and encourages me to keep on moving along and fighting to keep control.

I appreciate your words so very much.

Hugs
Bonnie
